Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I tried to explain to my gf that the 350z was swapped for a 911 to make room for the dog.
Leading evidence: 'Replace 911' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust appropriately, thanks' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I shall adjust appropriately, thanks for the shout out.

Suggestion
(I.e., if seats down is best for storage, and since no one really sits there anyways, could I replace seats with storage?) My uncle with a corvette built a cool back storage box, might do the same.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I removed mine. They're useless as seats, and removing them increases cargo volume and ever so slightly reduces weight. I bought some plastic storage cases that fit perfectly in the seat buckets for carrying stuff on track weekends and keeping things dry.
Up except when doing grocery store run. Down presents a nice bag shelf as the 4S has squat for space in frunk! I prefer the leather look more than the carpet look.
I can't believe you people take so much risk with your cars!!
It's well known that the position of the seats changes the harmonics and the bad harmonics is the main cause of IMSB failures. If you bought a car that had the seats moved or were dumb enough to do so yourself, you're driving a time bomb!
Unfortunately as each car has a unique harmonic the proper seat position could only be calibrated during the build. So once moved, you're boned.
Never leave the seat down! If you do, there's the very real possibility of peeing on it in the middle of the night while your eyes are still half closed. Everybody knows that.
You need to read the forums more closely.
Everyone knows keeping one up and one down is the best combination for reducing the chances of an IMS bearing failure.
I keep mine up. That's how it was designed from factory. I wouldn't want to upset the balance.
Unless I have my golf clubs in the back, then I add 0.3 psi to the rear tyres.
Down on the track, up on the street. My extensive wind-tunnel testing has shown that down on the track reduces the wind drag vortex coefficient when the windows are open.
Anyone have good storage options? (I.e., if seats down is best for storage, and since no one really sits there anyways, could I replace seats with storage?) My uncle with a corvette built a cool back storage box, might do the same.
I alternate but usually have them down. Sometimes it keeps me up at night. To help with the insomnia I have a spreadsheet with a positionally dependent, variable depreciation graph to ensure the impact of downtime on the condition of the seats is properly managed.
One helluva car collection there Mr. Tlakusa, bravo
In the 996tt, you have to leave them in the position they were in upon delivery. Changing the rear seat position constitutes a mod that just kills resale value. Your car is only original once. You would do well to remember that.
If you are a male owner, it depends on if you are married. If you are, then you put the seats down. If not, then they probably stay up most of the time.
Check for Option Code 007. It's on a separate hidden sticker.
If so, your seats will do this (it's actually the real reason why sun roof delete option is so rare):
I leave mine down and usually have a realistic air soft pistol and a ***** on them when parked. That way when someone walks by and looks in they know I mean business, no matter what I'm doing
Up, clearly, as it reinforces that the 911 is a practical family car. That's the argument/reasoning I used to explain to my wife why I should sell my z4 and get the 911. However, since I've taken up golf again I've found the seats permanently down and my golf bag across them.
I tried to explain to my gf that the 350z was swapped for a 911 to make room for the dog. She immediately said I was full of sh*t, but she does like riding around in the 996.
You cheap bastard, you're killing your engine with that crappy inferior oil!
Everyone knows that Mobile1 purchased directly from the dealer is a far superior blend
Phenomenal responses on this thread all due to seats up or seats down... love it.
Next month we'll start a new thread regarding conceal carry when in the 996...with the limited storage space, where do you keep your gun ?
