Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

There was some discussion in another thread about my Fuchs Knock-offs. I didn't want to hijack someone else thread so I started this one to provide details about the wheels. I have a 2000 C2 Cab with stock suspension and standard 18" tire sizes. I currently am running Michelin Pilot Super Sportf 225/40/18 and 265/35/18. The wheels are Starke 8.5+10 X 18 from Tire Rack. They are listed as not fitting, because the offsets are not factory spec. I do not have any rubbing or fitment issues with this setup so these should work for factory suspension.

Thank you for posting. This is exactly the car I have. 2000 Cab. H2, stock.
Would you say say the machine lip on the exterior of the rim is shiny chrome or A matte finish? Im asking because of break dust. Are these difficult to keep clean?
thx. Rick
They are shiny and not as tough as the real Fuchs. I stopped a wheel bolt and left a nice mark on the outer room. They are about average to better than average to keep clean. The 17" twists and 16" phone dials were worse. They are better that the 18" triple 5 spoke on a 2008 Cayenne S. Those were about the worst to get and keep clean.
I really dig the look. I have essentially the same car ('00 arctic silver C2 cab). I would have ordered some of these by now, but the weight (28 - 30 lbs each per Tire Rack for the 19"; not sure about the 18") gives me pause.
I wouldn't mind the real ones. These came with the car for an extra $1000 which is a lot cheaper than the real Fuchs. 4 wheels plus tires for $1000, which got me the wheels I like plus the factory wheels. Maybe when I can afford to drop in a 3.8 track motor from flat 6 I'll spring for the real deal.
I like these over the Fuchs with the silver paddles. This is what I saw on the 911s growing up in the 80s and came with my first Porsche, a 944. The silver Fuchs remind me of the 60s and early 70s 911s.
yes; you can have cheap, light, safe - choose two. my take on it is that i don't care what my street wheels weigh - they serve more form over function. track wheels gotta be light and safe - function over form. if you are only running one set of wheels then yes a concern.
These rims are catered to the older crowd. They are nostalgic because older people associate them the "good old days". If you look at the lines of the 996, these rims don't suit them at all and they look out of place. Heard this from a few car enthusiasts that are under 25 years old and although I am older than 40, I have to agree with them.
You hit the nail on the head. There is a reason BBS and Fuchs are $800 - $1,000 per wheel.
I would want to know a lot more about the Ebay wheels before I ran them at sustained freeway speeds. For the record, I'm not one of those people that immediately dismisses anything made in China as complete crap but if there's a potential safety concern, I try to do my homework. Also, referring to them as replicas or knock-offs is a bit of stretch. I think of them more as Fuchs 'themed' wheels because they really aren't
that
close to the real deal.
Bookmarked for future reference.
My new to me 2000 C4 Cab came with these 19' aftermarket wheels and Nexen N3000 tires on them:

I like the looks of them but after just three 100 drives in the car, I've already decided that I don't like how they feel/handle. The driving feel is very "heavy" and muddled much more so that I remember when test driving other 996s w/OEM wheels in the past and handling is far from nimble.
I assume the 18's w/different rubber (like the Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my BMW) would be much better. I like the look of the Turbo Twist wheel and will have to add them to my list of possible future mods.
These wheels would look great on a black car. I like the classic Fuch wheel look. However, I think the offsets are not perfect to the car which makes the wheels poke out a little to much IMHO. I rather see these wheels on a 996 before 19" lobster claw/fork or some other 19"/20" knockoffs found on eBay.
These came on my car. They are 18" hollow spokes. I think a previous owner sourced them and the brakes from a Boxster S.
For me, the older a car gets (any make) I appreciate the stock look best.
This photo is from the dealers Hemmings post from years ago. The car looks the same and is stock except me upgrading the engine and swapping out the exhaust.
Perhaps because I fall into the older demographic, I really like the OP's wheels on that car, both for style and for color. Although I generally don't like black wheels, here they provide needed contrast. I had a 2002 cab with the same colors, but a black top, and silver sport wheels, and it was too much of a muchness.
Yup...a previous poster indicated he felt these relatively heavy aftermarket wheels are no big concern, but I have to disagree. I can feel the weight difference of heavy wheels in the drive (not to mention the minor hassle of lugging them off an on during maintenance - would simply rather handle a lighter wheel, if possible). Unsprung weight is a performance killer.
I'm perhaps the younger generation(born mid 80s),and i love the the original wheels. I"m picky as can be when it comes to my wheels over my last 17 cars. I rarely ever go with replicas or fake splits and love the stock look many times. Saying that, I also can appreciate a solid aftermarket performance wheel as long as safety concerns or brand reputation is known.
I personally love the old school Fuchs on 996s and 997s. I think the black Fuchs with polished lip looks great on a black 996/997, but generally looks good on dark cars. I like the silver pedals on black background on silver cars, and generally good on the lighter colors. I dont like all black wheels on black cars, but a black 911, of any era, on black Fuchs
with polished lip
, in the right size, is just perfect to me. For what its worth, Im 46.
