Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

25 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Been debating adding stone guards to my C4S quarter panels. Mainly for aesthetics. To me, they have a retro vibe to them. Reminds me of 930/964 era cars. Im leaning towards putting them on. Are they removable if I decide I wanna switch back? Or are they applied with some crazy permanent 3M type backing?

If its like actual PPF the adhesive comes lose with a heat gun or steam. I dunno what kind of adhesive is on them though.

POST 3Original post

They also make magnetic ones. Just have to be careful when you spray wash your car.

Thanks. Found a mag set on MagnaGrafik.com. Ordered their Speedster style.

POST 5Original post

I've seen magnets pull paint off, make sure they aren't baking in the sun constantly.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thx. Car is driven on weekends only and parked in my garage M-F.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Those look great! i went with the Speedster design. Slightly different shape.

POST 10Original post

Thanks for sharing. I too have a red C4S and have not seen this before.

POST 11Original post

IMO, looks like it is trying to be a Cayman which is likely not the desired outcome. When it comes to aesthetics, do whatever makes you smile. Good luck with it.

Love the car. Great color + looks even better with painted rockers and lip.. and that spoiler is awesome. +996 on MagnaGrafik. The guy that runs it is local to me and active in the PCA. He did my track numbers and I think they turned out great. I had mine on for a year with 0 issues. I removed them when I washed the car though and let everything dry before re-applyling.

Thanks for the link! I will definitely be ordering something from them!

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Threw em on this morning. I like it.

POST 16Original post

Magnagrafik has some cool stuff. I was going ot order the full set of Rothman's livery but they are only rated to stay on the car to 140 mph.

POST 17Original post

Those look great. I'm planning to add some for longer road trips and mountain runs.

POST 18Original post

I have been waiting to install a set of Sun Coast stone guards on my C4S for a while now. I keep flip-flopping about whether I want to put them on or not. I think they add "sportiness" hit points, at the cost of "elegance" hit points. Some days that seems good, some not so much. Maybe the MagnaFin's are just what I'm looking for.

POST 19Original post

I'm biased of course, but I think magnetic is the way to go if you want to try the shark fin look. I just had an order from a guy unhappy with the black vinyl ones you mentioned. They are really thin 3M vinyl, like half the thickness of regular PPF. The magnets provide way more protection and install or remove in seconds. You can use over your OG clear stone guards, PPF, or ceramic coating. MagnaFins in Deep Black Carbon Fiber

Any issues with slapping straight into the paint? If so, sounds like they should be removed when the car is washed?

POST 21Original post

I have these installed and I totally recommend them https://www.invisiblemask.com/imask/...oduct_id=45805

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 19920284

Just be sure to make sure both surfaces are clean. If you are applying MagnaFins on paint directly, assuming the car has been washed, I recommend using a quick detailer spray, a clay bar, and a good microfiber towel to remove any micro contaminates. I like the round Synthetic Clay Bar from Griots Garage. Then clean with isopropyl alcohol. Then slap em' on. Be sure to remove them when you wash the car. It's fun to pull them off and see the fin shaped clean area below. Somehow they will stay on at 160 mph+ but a power washer will send them flying.

Mind sharing a picture of the ones you have? Seems like there's a few options.

POST 24Original post

Quotes source post: 19921040

They are all transparent (PPF). They look like the factory ones (barely noticeable) The only difference between the 3 options are the quality of the film Back when I ordered (2010) they had 3M and Suntek as a premium. Now it seems they have 3M and ArmowWrap as a premium https://armorwrap.com/ I choose the Suntek and so far it has hold really well, no fading or yellowing.

Totally missed the fact that they're clear. Sounds like they're holding up well tho?
