Even though I don't need it, I installed the UAOS before eliminating the coolant loop was even a thing, and I replaced the alternator already 18 months ago, so it would feel like redoing alot of work...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

29 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I broke my alternator bracket and found replacements were few or pricey so decided to make my own. I've included pictures of my prototype. It is machined from a single piece of 6061 billet. Instead of the 3 ribs used for support, this section is solid. Outside dimensions are exactly OEM. I want to see how much interest there is and may consider making more of these. You will have to drive out the split steel bushing from your bracket and put it into the new piece. What do you think? Jim

POST 2Original post

Count me in for 1 please! Im a sucker for anything billet/ someone continuing to support and better the M96 platform. can you explain more about the bushing/ how to?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Use a hammer and socket to drive this piece out and hammer into the billet piece. Goes in really easy

POST 5Original post

I'm in. I really don't ever want to remove my alternator (especially while the engine is in the car) but I want to own this part.

POST 6Original post

Do you have a projected cost for the bracket yet? Thanks

POST 7Original post

A version without the water line might be a winner as well... Does it have to even have the step down bit, could it be flat? If it didn't interfere it would be another slick and less work.. Less can be more.. NICE WORK...

POST 9Original post

If you want to share the CAD software, the oldest boy is a machinist in Oakland and could have him do one without coolant tube, not needed with UAOS.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was thinking about having a version without the tube and convert it to a vent so you can get the air bubbles out of that corner. It is easy for me to modify the CAD. I'm also going to extend the flange below the tube to make it easier to machine. The step is needed to clear the pulley. I'll post a pic of the 3d print when I get done. jim

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What's nice about this is the alternator does not come out. You do need to remove the belt, 2 pulleys and drain about half the coolant. Jim

POST 13Original post

I would like one without the tube for the coolant like to the AOS, possibly two additional units Mark

POST 14Original post

I'd like one without the tube since I have the UAOS, cost depending...

POST 15Original post

Where were you three years ago when mine broke? This is amazing. Great work!!

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 19233420

Here is the mock up for the tubeless style. I've removed the relief for the water jacket and added a m6x1.0 mm vent hole to help remove bubbles. The outside dimensions are the same. $300 + shipping w/o tube, $350 + shipping w tube. New on pelican parts is over $650 DM if interested. Jim

POST 18Original post

Price point is too high for me but great part addition for the community!!

POST 20Original post

Wow this is nice. Strongly considering it... Even though I don't need it, I installed the UAOS before eliminating the coolant loop was even a thing, and I replaced the alternator already 18 months ago, so it would feel like redoing alot of work... But it's so nice!

POST 22Original post

I didnt even know that breaking these brackets was a thing..

Fantastic work! If I hadn't replaced mine a couple of years ago, I'd be in for one. Oh yes: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...ispreloading=1

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have updated the 2 styles, With tube, and without for those who have updated UOAS. There is a bolt tapped to help bleed the otherwise dead space. These now include zinc plated bushings so you do not need to use your old one. Price for Rennlisters $350 W tube, $300 w/o tube. Shipping included for USA. PM if interested. For those who have ordered prior, I will be sending you the new bushings.

POST 25Original post

Im new and dont know how to pm you or send you a message a lil help here i definitely need one of these with the tube is there another way i can contact you? Thanks
