The problem is the body shop "aimed" the headlight twice.
Leading evidence: 'body shop "aimed" the headlight' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'body shop "aimed" the headlight' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust vertical until it roughly matched the other headlamp' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Then I adjusted the vertical until it roughly matched the other headlamp.

I have one brand new headlight that was installed when I hit a deer awhile back.

The biggest issue is why spinning the adjustment **** seems to make no difference to the height of the low beam.
Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.

Also does anyone know a way to test the autoleveling motors?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have one brand new headlight that was installed when I hit a deer awhile back. The problem is the body shop "aimed" the headlight twice. Once it was pointed straight down and I couldn't see anything. Then they did it again and made it too high. I pulled the unit out and twisted the adjuster but the projector does not seem to want to point lower then it is right now. The light is projected about 2" higher than the projector level when pointed at a wall. I am getting flashed by others constantly. It is very very easy to see and wow does an LED high beam light up the world lol.
After spinning the adjustment **** (counter clockwise like I read on here) long enough I now have a much wider gap between the high beam and the headlight, and the low beam projector hasn't seemed to move at all. It doesn't match the other side now. The other side is aimed lower and probably just right. I want to make them match. The other light was upgraded with a new projector so I may have to aim that manually by opening it up. This brand new headlight shouldn't need that. If its broken this will give me an excuse to upgrade that projector as well. The new projectors have such a crisp cutoff line.
Also does anyone know a way to test the autoleveling motors? I have never seen the headlights move like my 2019 Cayenne LED units do. That car when you hit a bump they will auto level in a split second.
The auto leveling system has two potentiometers (one for each wheel on the driver's side) that sense the wheel position and send that to the headlight. The potentiometers connect to a tiny strut at one end and a piece of plastic connected to the control arm. Check to see if the link is no longer connected and is just hanging in midair. That might be a place to start. I've had the link sieze up from corrosion and brake the plastic holder on the control arm.

The biggest issue is why spinning the adjustment **** seems to make no difference to the height of the low beam. The high beam bowl is moving and now has a 1/2 gap between it and the rest of the light. I am not at home to provide photos.
There is a cam.gear (plastic parts) inside that control the height. Its possible something internal has failed. Pull the light, remove the back panel.and watch the mechanism as u adjust.
Is this an OEM headlamp? My 996.1 OEM xenons had misaligned high- and low-beams until I spent 15 minutes redoing their settings.
I first adjusted the horizontal adjustment - while the light shone against a wall - to an initial point where I was decently happy. Then I adjusted the vertical until it roughly matched the other headlamp.
Then I stared into the headlamp and looked for the little alignment level tab. The tab has a bunch of dashed lines, as well as a 0 to indicate the origin. I compared the alignment tabs of both headlamps, and adjusted the faulty one - twisting both the horizontal and vertical - until they both matched on the alignment tabs and the light output.
The process was a lot of trial and error, but the resulting light output was perfect.
Yes an OEM 996.2 Turbo headlight. The aiming is driving me crazy. I did surgery on the one old headlight I have, and pulled the gears out several times when trying to make it right. They are very flimsy. That headlight is probably aimed higher as well and I figured I would need to probably move the gears with the back off to adjust them. I think they are either stripped or not lined up perfectly.
The fact the the high beam bucket moved in this new headlight, but the xenon beam didnt is confusing. Turning the adjustment screw with way makes no visible change.
