Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have run into some conflicting information, even from wavetrac.
Leading evidence: 'Run into some conflicting information, even' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean sheet design' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

My car is a mostly street driven car used for mountain runs and auto x with very limited track time.

Suggestion
The Turbo transmission is a derivative of the 993 transmission and the Carerra transmission is a clean sheet design.

Suggestion
The C4S uses the G96.31 transmission while the Turbo uses the G96.50.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have recently removed the front differential from my 2003 C4s with the hopes of installing a Wavetrac unit in the rear. I have run into some conflicting information, even from wavetrac. There are a few threads on this but I haven't seen it actually answered. Does anyone know the proper part number for the rear wavetrac unit in a 996 C4s. I believe it is 40.309.160wk, which is also the part number for the 996 turbo. Thanks!
The Mezger engine cars - Turbo, GT3, GT2, Cup - use a completely different transmission from the Carerra. I would be suspicious about the same diff fitting both transmissions.
Trying to decide if this is considered a clip in style stub or bolt in style stub. According to wavetrac this is the only difference between the two units
Clip in and item #9 is the clip.
The Turbo transmission is a derivative of the 993 transmission and the Carerra transmission is a clean sheet design. My buddy Jason put a limited slip diff in his Carerra trans which required machining the drive flanges somehow. A pity he's been banned; he could have answered your question.
My car is a mostly street driven car used for mountain runs and auto x with very limited track time. Ive had wavetrac products in other vehicles and was very happy with the performance on the street.
ok, so for anyone following along with this thread.... 40.309.165WK was not the correct PN. Turns out my C4s has the bolt in style flanges just like the turbo cars. The diff had to be shipped back to wave-trac and they converted it for free. Unfortunately, even with the proper diagram pulled via my VIN by Porsche it was not correct. So... If you go to do this mod, you need to physically check which differential you have, clip in or bolt in style...... 40.309.160WK ended up being what my car needed! Always something. Also, if you are doing this plan on doing new carrier bearings.
