Turned out to be kind of stupid but the vacuum line for the brake booster and idle rpm was disconnected.
Leading evidence: 'kind of stupid' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'kind of stupid' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check fuel pressure' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I just though about something, i recall the issue first occurred after i installed the resonator delete and installed a small cone filter on the tiptronic breather hose, the one the originally enters the intake elbow.

U can check fuel pressure with a rental gauge from a parts store.

I will start with that and cleaning the throttle as these are pretty simple.

May also have a intake leak so a smoke test may be needed?

The Fuel that remains in the fuel lines , metal rails, and 6 Injectors will remain liquid after hot shut-down as long as the fuel pressure remains high and doesn't drop more than 2 psi per hour .......If the Fuel Pressure drops rapidly after hot shut-down this can cause bubbling of the fuel in the engine bay and difficulty in hot restarts and /or stalling after hot re-start.........again..IF holding the throttle wide open makes starting much much less difficult, and keeping the revs up for 5-10 seconds keeps from stalling, then test the fuel pressure drop on shut-down.......
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
2001 Carrera 4, 130K KM, Tip. Issue been present since i bought it 2 years ago but never bothered too much.
Stuff ive done: New coolant, plugs, regular maintenance, Trans oil, 997 alternator. None of those seems related.
No codes, no mods except res delete.
Issue:
When I am restarting my car after it has been turned off fully warmed and it has sat for some period - 20 min until 2h+-
it starts fine but the quickly stalls.
This never happens before the restart (meaning when the car is fully warmed but hasnt been turned off) neither after short turnoffs like pumping fuel.
What can it be?
Crank position sensor seems weird because it has nothing to do with the restart...
PS - after i rev it a bit to prevent it from stalling and i start driving it wont stall anymore.
Thank!!
Sorry, Edited!

U r gonna have to get a scanner that can see some of the telemetry. The data can help us diagnose.
i would look at maf sensor and long/short fuel curves. it may also be a dirty throttle body and the idle air valve not responding. Can also be an issue with the fuel pump or one of the internal tank lines has a pin hole. U can check fuel pressure with a rental gauge from a parts store. May also have a intake leak so a smoke test may be needed? Lots of things it can be but working through some diag will prevent spending a lot of $ tossing parts at it.
Thank you! i will do the idle oil cap test and get a smoke test too. Idle air valve may be true, i will investigate but couldnt find anyone with the exact same issue yet.
The hard start on warm restart is commom, not the stall. I will start with that and cleaning the throttle as these are pretty simple. Thanks again
If i were looking for a place to start it would be at the fuel system. Either a pump/internal line or an injector issue. The fuel map is different and idle is higher in a cold motor so it can catch its self before stalling. Then i would look at the maf #s.
I think the C4 does not have an idle air valve.
When the car is hot and won't start connect your scanner to it and read engine rpm while cranking. If it stays at 0 it's the crank position sensor. Your symptoms are typical of a bad crank position sensor.
I just though about something, i recall the issue first occurred after i installed the resonator delete and installed a small cone filter on the tiptronic breather hose, the one the originally enters the intake elbow. could it be it? it is related to steady rpm and when the car sits turned off hot it absorbs all the heat from the engine bay. could it be the issue? will roll back to oem and see!! fingers crossed. what do you guys think? will take a couple of days to test as im with the small spare tire😭
Difficulty in Hot Re-Starts and/or Stalling after Hot Re-Start is usually caused by Flooding or Fuel Bubbling..
Flooding ;
Flooding after Hot Shutdown can be caused by a leaking Purge Valve ...IF the Purge Valve is leaking after Hot Shut-Down, Fuel Fumes from the gas tank will be pushed into the engine Intake and can Flood the engine making re-start difficult or induce stalling after re-start ..
IF holding the throttle wide open makes starting much much less difficult, and keeping the revs up for 5-10 seconds keeps from stalling, then remove the Purge Valve and test...
Fuel Bubbling
The other suggestions above about the Crank Sensor may apply if you are loosing spark on Hot-Soak,,...
The KEY , get this issues resolved as soon as they occur and don't let them pile up as in several problems at once,.... makes them much more difficult for you to diagnose/repair....
Update: issue solved
Turned out to be kind of stupid but the vacuum line for the brake booster and idle rpm was disconnected.
Part of the resonator delete mod is to leave it hanging in the engine bay with a little filter on it.
Probably heat soak and not being in vacuum is what caused all the issue.
Stuck it back before the throttle and issue solved.
