Just had the RoW M030 setup installed now on my 996 Anniversary and car feels taut and smooth without being harsh.

PSS10/9 - is also wonderful and not harsh....you have options to adjust the dampening but I bet 98% of people set them and forget them - I run my shocks on stiff....and only think about dialing them back for about a 1 mile stretch of my commute, then I say...**** on it and smile once I hit the less rough sections of highway

As a point of reference, I ran Mich Pilot Sport "ribs" on the street and Pilot Sport Cups on the track.

I also used GT3 lower control arms front and rear to add negative camber and achieve a fairly aggressive (for a street car) alignment settings.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Here is my feedback and some pics taken when I installed my RoW M030 Suspension.
My car had the "touring" suspension. I have included some comparisons from the OE to the RoWs. The difference is quite noticeable from the pics as you can see.
Current height measurements are:
Front - 26 1/8"
Rear - 26 "
I believe these are the Porsche RoW M030 Specs. My suspension has been on the car about 2 + months now. Ride high is slightly lower, not harsh at all. The handling is much more improved, specially in corners.
thanks for the pics, I am planning to install the RowM030 shortly.
Did you take any pics during the install, any tips or advices
Right now I am particularly curious about how to remove the front sway... some say that you don't need to totally remove the 'boomerang' plate and it is possible to slide them in position while only removing two of the four bolts, but I still can 't picture how it can be done.
Glad the pics help
I had some help from my indy shop for the front suspension as it was very hard to pull the strut out (even compressed) as I was worried it will hit my fender wheel lip.
As far as the front sway goes, I only loosen the front bolts and moved the plate to the side so I could remove the sway without removing the whole thing. That I did by myself.
The rear sways were easy.
Good luck on the DIY
francars - my RoW M030 doesn't sit as low as yours, at least it doesn't look it, and I've considered the H&R lowering springs. I ordered my kit through Sunset and wondered if you can tell me what color codes were on your springs. I can't really see from the pics. I'm concerned I got the USA M030 instead. Thanks.
I was thinking of installing the ROW M030, but didn't want anything to get messed up on the messed streets of Los Angeles. Now from seeing your guys, it looks great, but not too low were it might break something. How much is the costs for everything?
I just ordered a kit from Suncoast for $1080 contains shock, strusts and sway bars.
I added a bolt kit for the calipers as Porsche say those bolt should only be used once, but a bit overkill I think.
While you are in there if you have high mileage car you might want to change some bushings to give it a brand new overall:
* Front Shock Mount - $63.05 x 2
* Front Shock Bushing - $25.25 x 2
* Front Stabilizer Drop Link - $63.11 x 2
* Rear Stabilizer Drop Link - $46.98 x 2
* Rear Shock Mount - $101.14 x 2
I decided to wait until I take it apart as my car only has 32k miles.
Sure, the color code is White, green white. BTW... for the looks on your Avatar it looks low to me?
SunCoast is the best priced
Yeah, I did use a pry bar and when installing back get a Long screw driver to align it back to insert the bolt in. It was kinda PITA but got help from a friend.
I love the PSS10s as well but I don't track as much as I should and wanted to have OEM parts. It will be an overkill to spend the extra $$$ for something I don't need. Maybe on my next ride.
The ride on the RoWs is stiffer and much more improved as the old OE suspension. I think everybody has their own opinion but I am happy with it.
My car looks low in my avatar pic because it still had the PSS10s on it. Now another rennlister in Houston is enjoying them because the streets here are too brutal to use the 10's and get any enjoyment out of them. I'm very happy with the ride and handling with the RoW M030. Thanks for the post on the spring colors - I'll have to check them against mine.
I thought you could adjust the PSS10s?
I am not sure the height you have currently on yours now but I wish my car was lower than what you saw in the pics. I think the perfect height will be around 25.5" front / back (or something close). I think that extra .5" will make such a difference, but I am happy with what I got.
Look into the X74 factory suspension. I ran it on a 2004 40th Anny car for 4 years and loved it. Handling is teriffic. It does lower the car 1" to 1.25" so dips, driveways, and speed bumps require attention. The stance and front to rear rake is picture perfect.
Ride qualities can be a bit subjective and up to personal preference. This may seem counter intuitive, but I found the X74 less harsh than the USM030 which was stock on the 40th AE cars. Car cornered very flat with minimal roll compared to the stock suspension. Car felt lighter and quicker to respond to driver inputs. Ride height is definitely lower and with the "turbo' front bumper/spoiler you have to be very aware of clearance.
My car was a daily driver for a couple of years but also saw a lot of track use. Other drivers frequently commented on how flat the car cornered thru turns. I also used GT3 lower control arms front and rear to add negative camber and achieve a fairly aggressive (for a street car) alignment settings. I would not spend the money to go from the USM030 to the RoWM030 there's just not enough "improvement" fro the expense. The X74 is designed by the factory engineers and is a "plug and play" installation. You don't even have to but the sway bars since the X74 uses the same bars as the M030. The car just feels planted. As a point of reference, I ran Mich Pilot Sport "ribs" on the street and Pilot Sport Cups on the track.
Moved to a 997 GT3, but miss that 40th AE car.
I also have 40th anniversary car and have been considering the RoW M030 kit. My logic is I've been doing more DE days and with 35k miles and 9 years on original springs and shocks I thought a refresh at a reasonable cost $1050 + fitting/alignment might keep me going in my current car for another season giving me more grip (already using MPSC's) and be in keeping with the cars original spec given this was the kit they fitted to my vehicle in Europe until next year when I may go for a dedicated track car. So the question is what sort of difference could I expect to notice with new stiffer row m030 versus my old us m030 for $2k fitted or would I be better investing in a $4k coil over setup and transferring this over into a 996 or 997 track car in time? Are the 996 narrow body coilovers even that transferable? Also any views on a used pss10 coilover set used for 4 seasons on de days as an intermediate cost option?
I have the MO30 in my 951 with solid suspension. This is not a good daily driver on bumpy roads. although great for cornering and ramps but best on the track.
read: OLD MAN
I have the second from the stiffest available and daily drive my 3.2 on arguably the roughest sections of freeway in the country - and it knocks my teeth out and sounds like a teenager riding his teacher on a metal desk.....
but then I am on the regular roads and freeway without 1" drops at every expansion joint - it's perfectly fine
X73/74 is NOT harsh
ROW is stock - just not in the US - (read OK, but if you are going to go through all the work, why not make it come alive, not just be like it was new in every country but here)
PSS10/9 - is also wonderful and not harsh....you have options to adjust the dampening but I bet 98% of people set them and forget them - I run my shocks on stiff....and only think about dialing them back for about a 1 mile stretch of my commute, then I say...**** on it and smile once I hit the less rough sections of highway
Look Porsche didnt make this X suspension for race cars or tuners....its a nice set up designed for your car from the factory as an option to mashed potatoes and not locked rock hard
Just had the RoW M030 setup installed now on my 996 Anniversary and car feels taut and smooth without being harsh. It's noticeably lower too so looking forward to a nice windy road when the weather warms up :-)
The M030 ROW has better dampers and 1/2 inch lower, butg I doubt you would notice much of a difference compare to the USM030. Your best bang for the buck for track day improvement would be to add sway bars such as H&R or Gt3. Stiffer coilover is the way to gok but the cost can be prohibitive. It all depends how far are you willing to go. No doubt a good coilover like JRZ or Ohlins works great, bu the rid is stiffer. I think they ride fine, but its a personal preference. You have to balance our needs.
Brethren if you ar3 doing that much track8ng etc take this another more controlled level. Adjstablesmsuspensiondial in what you need when you need.
