Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

47 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

2005 911 C4S 38k miles Gaurds Red Natural Brown Leather manual additional equipment: 425 - Rear Widow Wiper 446- Wheel Caps with Colored Crest 680 - Bose 982 - Supple Leather Front and Rear 999 - Special Instructions (CoCo Brown Alcantera Headliner??) G1 - Gaurds Red Top M6H - Natural Brown Floor Mats X99 - Natural Leather Code - PAG XAH - AEROKIT XSC - Porsche Crest in Headrest Y06 - Alum/Lthr Shifter/Brake Handle I "sent the check" on this car about a month ago - but due to travel schedule and shipping time... just took delivery earlier this week. It was a LONG wait. bought the car from private party in Oklahoma and it was shipped to Vegas. The car has Fabspeed headers and exhaust (not mentioned by seller). I don't have the window sticker - so it's hard to tell what option "999 Special Instructions" is.... one of the guys I know at the local dealer thinks it is the coco brown alcantera headliner. plans for the car: 1) IMS retrofit 2) remove clear bra + paint correction and detail + reapply full clear bra 3) ceramic tint 4) GT3 Console Delete

POST 3Original post

totally love the car, 996 C4S has one of the best looking rear ends...congrats

POST 4Original post

Oh my, that's a keeper. WOW! Absolutely love the interior. Barn996 has something similar where several black pieces break up the tan. He has a black steering wheel also, which would look good on your car. Get some guards red bumperettes for the rear from Bumper Plugs. Love the painted front lip and side skirts too - I need to do that to my car. Congrats and welcome! Don't be a stranger. That's a very special car!

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13771780

thanks! I am gonna leave the bumperettes black for now - I like the contrast. I am going to get those plugs in front bumper for license plate bracket painted red. perhaps the "999 special instructions" were to have the lip and skirts painted to match body color.

POST 10Original post

Congrats! That's a fantastic looking car. Aerokits on the C4S are really unusual.

POST 11Original post

Quotes source post: 13772058

+1 so cool with the aero kit

POST 13Original post

That cant be a 2005 cause it would be a 997. Nice car altough

POST 14Original post

Quotes source post: 13772305

jb, 2005 was the crossover year for the 911 and Porsche made a limited number of 996 cars for 2005 along side the 997.

POST 16Original post

Forum member on Pelican Parts sent me the attached "996's produced and sold as 2005's", as info. 728 4S Coupe 763 4S Cabs 201 Carrera Cab 276 GT3 122 Turbo 18 GT2 129 Targa 90 GT3 Cup 127 Turbo Cab 598 Turbo S 960 Turbo S Cab I also have a 2005 996 C4S. Built in July 2004. Sold as a 2005.

POST 17Original post

Red and the lighter leather color looks great. Aero too, not sure I've seen that configuration before. Cool stuff ++

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13772305

yes it is a 2005 and it is a 996 my understanding is that the base Carreras were 997s in 05 and the TT and 4S stayed as 996s

POST 20Original post

Wow!!! Stunning configuration, that spoiler makes the car resemble a 993 from the rear. Any idea where one can buy that rear spoiler?

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 13773261

That's the OE aerokit spoiler. I know that Suncoast Parts used to sell the complete aerokit, but I'm not sure if they do anymore. It is quite expensive.

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13773261

mine is the XAH.... not sure if they can be purchased now... was told when new the option was over 7k per the link below: There were four factory aerokits XAA - Aerokit Cup (this is what everybody calls the 996 aero) XAE - "Carrera" Aerokit (much rarer in the US, a little more common in the UK) XAF - Turbo Aerokit XAH - Carrera 4S Aerokit link: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...s-xaa-xae.html

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13772452

Mine was built in July of 2004 too....

POST 25Original post

Suncoast still shows it as being available for sale on their website, for $7,995 (a 24.56% savings!). http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/00004480229.html

POST 26Original post

Congrats. How did you locate the car before purchase?

POST 28Original post

Nice find! Congrats. Not many 2005s out there and few C4Ss with a factory option aero kit from any model year.

POST 30Original post

I see Gnat is using the defective Rennlist app. again...Yes...

POST 31 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13774209

not sure he saw this thread

POST 32 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

so, after more research - I found out what the "999 special instructions" are on my C4S it is: "interior monitoring sensor, cars with colour to choice leather interior" but what the heck is the "interior monitoring system"

THANKS for your friendly tip Gbug but, strangley, my car is 2005 996, but all of the manuals in my glove are for a 2005 997..... so it makes it hard to just read my manual. have a nice night

POST 35Original post

Quotes source post: 13773304

hahaha... Helluva deal right there friends! And, as a courtesy, the kit comes unpainted so that you can make sure it's professional color matched to the perfect shade of Guards Red.

POST 37Original post

Quotes source post: 13792978

Sorry if you took offense, my comment was all in good fun. The interior sensor you are referring to is part of the security system, i.e. motion detector that activates when you lock the car. Not sure if all 996s have this feature, but my C4S does as well. FYI, If you don't want to activate the interior sensor when you lock the car, lock it twice in quick succession from the remote.

POST 39Original post

Such a nice car. Every time I see a C4s in any colour other than black I get extremely jealous. Love the Aero. Great car you have there.

POST 40 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13793575

no worries, thanks for the info, a buddy on the east coast had an old set of 996 manuals - from a 2003, but should be more similar at least than my 997 manuals. cheers
