Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

22 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Deleted until I make up my find and find more money...

POST 2Original post

Ultra-Duty Billet Chromoly Intermediate Bearing with modified intermediate shaft. Now I've seen it all.

POST 3Original post

Cryogenic enhancement of value train components

POST 4Original post

Call Flat 6 to verify its legit and then buy the crap out of that thing! If that is really a Raby rebuild, 30k is a good price to have a motor you won't have to worry about.

POST 5Original post

30k for a 1999 996 with limited options. It will be interesting what price the car actually sell for.

Thats what I'm thinking. I wonder why they used the retro fit vs The Solution on a complete rebuild?

POST 7Original post

Seeing as it's a '99, I think the price is a bit low. Everyone knows those are the best of the breed.

This engine was built several years ago, probably in 2010, or prior, and that was before I had released the IMS Solution for use in all builds- it was still an unadvertised option that was only offered to some purchasers, based on availability more than anything. These units were hand made in the early days. Cars with my engines almost never come up for sale, so it'll be interesting to see what it brings.

POST 9Original post

Seems like a great car to pick up so you don't have all the nonsense worries the rest of the members on here have.

What, me worry? You forgot the other documented 1,234,567 MOF's for the 996.

Options schmoptions, if this was a year ago I'd verify & buy with confidence.

So there we go. Sounds like it is indeed the real deal. Seems to me snapping this up and getting the Solution slapped into it by a certified installer (if not the Man himself) would given a motor that will outlast the rest of the car by a considerable amount without the wait (and risk of failing pre-qual) of buying a typical one and sending it off to F6I. I know the idea of a $30k 99 seems crazy when looking at the price of other 99s, but I think it's a good deal and would be jumping at if I was in the market. By the numbers alone Jake has hinted at the Stage 1 being around $20k and if you figure 7k for a good roller that leaves you about $3k "in the hole". That seems like a good deal to me to circumvent the long lead time, but I tend to want things yesterday

POST 13Original post

I don't think this one will last long once some of you guys realize what this is. And to the guy who said low options.........wake up!

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If it was in my budget it would have been bought yesterday...

POST 15Original post

curious to see how much it sells for, I personally think you never get back any money you put in any upgrades. Good thing the car has low mileage and the 99' are now the hot ones. But if I had to buy one i would certainly buy a similar mileage car on a 996.2 car ;0 link below

POST 16Original post

That is a great deal -- analogue, six-speed 911 wth forged / billet internals. Someone should buy philoo's beauty and ship it to FSI for an elective Stage II rebuild -- GT3 with back seats and a manual transmission.

POST 17Original post

I would pay $30K for this all day long. Can anyone make out the #s on the dyno graph?

POST 18Original post

inefficient markets in action here.. still available it seems.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think $25 would be a good buy.

POST 20Original post

I think the Liptronic lights might be what makes this one special.

POST 21Original post

Its got the LSD, Litronics and Hi Fi Sound options from what I can see. Would be hard to chose between this and a 40th anniversary edition for the same price. I still believe the 996 will go up in value. You can already see the 996 start to go up in value if you graph average prices from the beginning to end of 2016. The analog feel and pleasure of the 996 has been lost in the new cars.

POST 22Original post

I'm a noob who has been lurking for a few months soaking up info....was not sure where to put this request and it seemed like it wasn't worth starting a new thread. I happen to be in the LA area on business (I live in CT) and did a quick look for some candidate 996 cabs and found an ad on Autotrader. Anyone know this car/owner...replacement motor, single owner: http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...modelCode1=911
