Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
I suspect the IMS has not been done on mine either.
Leading evidence: 'ims has not been done' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'ims has not been done' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check sticker' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

check the sticker on the drivers door of the car for the build date.

For 14k you did well, I would have found room for a clean 34k mile 996 at 14k.

My plan is to drive it for a bit and eventually I may change the bearing to a LN ceramic.

brakes, transmission service, etc) Also will put a mild window tint and eventually I may swap out seats to either used Porsche buckets(if I can find something for a decent price) or something aftermarket like recaro, bride etc.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey everyone, after doing some research on this forum regarding IMS, RMS, etc issues I decided to pull the trigger on a car an acquaintance from work was selling.
2000 911 coupe tiptronic with just shy of 34k miles. I think the price was right. Good service records and pretty good shape for a now 17 year old car. If I'm not mistaken from the sticker on the door the car was manufactured 12/99 which means (according to some) it has a dual row IMSB, right? frunk options sticker was attached (show below). I'm going to take a look around to see if I can find what the codes mean, but if anyone could point me in the right direction- codes are the following:
C02, 236,249,413,424,432,436,437,438,446,490,537,696
Anyway, here are some photos.

never mind on the codes... looked them up.
413 is apparently=18" 993 Turbo-look wheels (not hollow spoke) which is strange because the car has 17' wheels on them.... strange but what can you do.
A lot can happen to a car in 17 years. A wheel change is the least of your worries
I picked up an '00 myself and have loved every minute. Get out and enjoy it!

well I am mistaken as the tires on the car (p zero Nero all seasons) are the specified 18" size size so that's good. Wheels are what came with the car. They look like 17" but I guess it's hard to tell.
The seat is a bit beat up but I've read about all sorts of leather issues/ not resilient materials so if you're suggesting the odomiter was manipulated im not worried about it. The car was bought at 5k miles by the father of the guy who I work with (who I bought the car from). If I get annoyed by the worn seats I haven't ruled out replacing them with something after market (recaro, etc)
That seat wear is normal for a car from Texas.... They only wear denim down there.
I kid... I have seen like kind seat wear on family member cars, sparkly jeans and cell phone belt holster tear them up quickly.
Just bought a 2000 C2 Convertible with 44k miles from a family member at the same price. Extremely thrilled with it. It shows the same amount of wear on the driver's seat in the same place. I suspect the IMS has not been done on mine either. I am curious what your plans are.
check the sticker on the drivers door of the car for the build date. If it was built before mid 2000 (6/2000) it should have a dual row IMSB which have a lower failure rate. My plan is to drive it for a bit and eventually I may change the bearing to a LN ceramic. I'll likely do this when the car needs other work as well (i.e. brakes, transmission service, etc) Also will put a mild window tint and eventually I may swap out seats to either used Porsche buckets(if I can find something for a decent price) or something aftermarket like recaro, bride etc. maybe I'll look into getting a head unit in the car for apple car play. If not, I need to find a good phone mount. Take out the cd changer unit and put in a cubby, throw in some winter matts and that's pretty much it for me. Don't want to put too much money into a 17 year old car. The seats alone will be expensive. First step is checking out the Porsche speciality garage a friend recommended. I'm not a DIY person so I need to find a good place to get the work done.
This is how the seats look in mine though do not really notice it getting in and out. Just heard that getting it on the transporter did not go well today so I might be in for some clutch work sooner than expected. I would like to do the same with radio/phone but having a convertible in San Francisco I am pretty averse to anything in the interior that does not look stock. We have an incredible amount of auto break ins. I have done without a car for 4 years so do not plan on driving it much but am sure making changes and keeping things working will be a journey. Like you I am not a tinkerer. PM me if you want to trade notes as we begin these projects.
