Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

it probably sold for a lot less than any other 911's that ran across the block that day unless there were other 996's.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Did you all see this? Seems like a pretty high price to me. Over $30k for a 996 C4 Convertible. Looks like a nice one, but still, over $30k for a non-turbo 996 is pretty unusual.

Worth every pennyIMHO. Lots going for it. Convertible, low mileage, 1999 which has double bearing rms, Hard top comes with it. Unmolested vehicle. Some people prefer the all wheel drive as this one is. Not mad on the color but hey look who is sellin g the car, I would take it lol.
Wow... that is a good price for the seller. Looks like the right couple of guys fell in love with the car while visiting the auction and drove up the price. Won't they be unpleasantly surprised when they shop comparatives on the open market? Or, the buyer won't care a bit...
One thing's for sure... it probably sold for a lot less than any other 911's that ran across the block that day unless there were other 996's.
Barrett Jackson & Mecum are not your typical car auctions where dealers go to pick up wrecks to flip and earn their daily bread... they are more for rich, or almost rich car enthusiasts to mingle and redistribute their money. I'm starting to think these mega-enthusiast auctions might be a good place to unload a top-shelp 996 for good money as a result of that. Much like Bring a Trailer is, but without the peanut gallery.
Buyers at Palm Beach Barrett Jackson often go against accepted logic, with 996s going for this kind of cash while a very nice 996 GT2 went for $75K 2 years ago. And don't forget the Buick Grand National that went for ungodly crazy cash 3 years ago. All in all, I've seen more "good buys" than crazy high sales.
I watched it this weekend. I would have sworn this one went for $27k before the commission. Seemed like a fair buy to me. Site says the price is after comission, so that would make sense.
Heh. 2017, and Hurdi still doesn't have it down just right. This is the reality we need.
OMG, how can you call this rolling atrocity "unmolested?"
After all, the side markers have been swapped - which in the Hurdi book is tantamount to bedding, killing, dismembering, and consuming a family member.
I agree with the OP ... $28k is pretty strong. Not sure that this car would even have gone that high on BAT, where we've seen some pretty sporty prices. IMO the seller caught the right crowd at the right time.
