Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I have been searching on the net for the subject of "replacing LCD screen on 996 PCM 1" but unable to find. I found a video series on youtube but for a PCM 2 (997) replacement. This made me wonder if the LCD screen can not be replaced at all. So, the problem is that I have a messed up LCD screen on my PCM 1 system - I did not know how this happened but seemed like the previous owner did not put any care on the screen. It seemed like a melted plastic on top of the screen (see pic). I have search on the net to find out how to fix this and landed on an auction site and found this replacement screen. From the look of it - seems like it is possible to replace the LCD screen but I am unsure if this is possible to replace. I have also had in mind to have it sent to a specialist which I found on the net, but they are all in the US or UK while I am in Jakarta, Indonesia - which made it not worth the effort. So, any one can help me out with the LCD replacement issue before I go and buy the replacement LCD screen? Before dismantling the existing unit I hope I can get some information - as well as to know if I have to to recode the unit in order to get the new screen works - should I finally replaced it. Thank you in advance for all inputs given. Josh
