Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone purchased aftermarket rings for the instrument cluster? Anyone know if these are "rings you slip on"? Recommendations? Thinking of getting these, Link to flea bay add.

POST 2Original post

I have had two sets of the matte finish rings from the Ebay guy from Poland...Dido Tuning I think is his screen name...One on my past C2, and one on my current GT3. They are very good quality and they are friction fit with no glue needed. He has a YouTube video on how to install them. A+.

POST 3Original post

Just looked at your link... Yes Didotuning that's the one. Great guy, I accidentally bent the tach ring on my C2 when first installing (my fault I squeezed it accidentally and it collapsed)...I messaged him on EBay and he shipped me a replacement free of charge...from Poland!! Good dude. Personally I think the matte finish ones look best on our cars, especially w/ the other matte finish faux aluminum accents that are already in the interior.

POST 4Original post

After i saw a post here of the Dido Tuning brushed rings I ordered them. They are slim and give a refined touch to the instrument cluster.

POST 5Original post

Those look great. I have a set from Ebay that were very inexpensive. It took a few small dots of clear silicone adhesive (caulk) to secure them, but they look good.

POST 6Original post

Also very nice. These are rings which slide over the existing ones, not? The Dido Tuning rings are snap ins. They cover the top and inside, not the outside of the instrument bezels. They look therefore less present, finer. Their fit is not 100% perfect. If you go close, you see some small deviations. But for me they serve their purpose and are good enough.

POST 7Original post

Mine have been on for almost 10 years and and just under 40K more miles. If I recall, they had double sided tape to put them on. Although I just noticed one was starting to come off at the bottom. I couldn't tell, the only reason I noticed was that I was cleaning the car. I tried to find info on where I got them, unfortunately to no avail. Although, I'm pretty sure they were from ebay.

POST 8Original post

Very nice touch indeed! Nothing like a lil' Porsche bling.

POST 10Original post

Do you have to remove the instrument cluster to install?

No. The Dido rings press on, friction fit. Takes all of 5 minutes to install. He made a Youtube video on how to install: You Tube

POST 12Original post

+ 1 on the Dido rings... Great little mindless upgrade! Silk, tell me about that steering wheel! I love it!

POST 13Original post

another +1, were easy to install, arrived quickly, finish is nice. breaks up the grayness of the interior and dash. I think the brushed ones look better than the shiny ones. Nice bling for little money.

POST 14Original post

Already have these on my car and simply assumed that it was "standard" on all Porsches. NTL, I do agree that they add a nice touch to the gauge cluster

POST 15Original post

The ones that you attach with silicone look quite a bit different than the Dido rings that snap on. Which is better is up to individual taste. I preferred the silicone-attached rings, but wasn't as fond of the painted silver look that most of them have, so I did what is outlined in this thread ( https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-100-less.html ), which was to buy red rings, strip the paint off, and then finely sand the underlying aluminum to give them a proper brushed aluminum look. It took a while to get all the red paint off and then to sand them to a brushed surface, but I was very happy with the result.

It is the T96 steering wheel made by DCT Motorsport.
