Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I had my car scanned last week by my Porsche mechanic and he said all systems were good except the brake pedal switch was going to fail at some point and I should replace it soon, and as it is an easy fix I could do it myself. So I ordered the part and like an idiot removed the clutch pedal switch first, they look identical but do have different part numbers. Anyway I noticed that the clutch switch was a bit wet, not drenched or anything but had a light coating of oil (I assume clutch/hydraulic fluid?) What's the procedure here, I'm guessing the slave cylinder is beginning to fail?

POST 2Original post

if it is at the clutch pedal it is the master cylinder not the slave. slave lives on the trans. get a set of these or at least a 10mm. it will save time and aggravation. https://www.truevalue.com/combinatio...99&cid=gooshop

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the info, my mechanic tells me the switch tends to squeak and he believes it is just some residue from being sprayed with WD40
