Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The past few days we have had a few tropical waves past thru south florida.
My 996 is currently outside due to construction at my house and for the
first time I have a massive amount of water soaking the rear drivers side
passenger footwell and under the rear seat pad on the same side.
I thought I may have left the window cracked open, so I extracted all
the water from the carpet using a wet/dry shopvac.
Well last nite it seemed like a mini-hurricane pasted thru my area
dumping massive amounts of rain. So I go in my 996 this morning
and sure enough, same thing happened!
I tried to see where the water is coming from, but cant tell.
It seems to be migrating under the carpet from somewhere.
I checked the sunroof and it looks completely closed.
Has anyone else had this problem with their 996.
Or it has come off completely like mine did. Why....no one knows but it could be from the incredibly rough ride that rattles just about everything lose on the inside of this car
Thanks for the info guys.
I looked at Tim's diagram, then went to the 996
opened the sunroof, tilted it also.
Cant see the drain holes, its they are located too deep in the roof.
any other suggestions?
In the rear the drain holes are in a plastic tray that the water collects in....if I am remembering correctly? Could not see mine either but poured water into the tray and watched it come out in the car
instead of the rear fender well. Next remove the headliner and get to work. Hose could be off, pinched from improper installation, split or tray cracked? Good luck.
Rico,
Come to my office so I can gibe you a NoDamp dessicant product- it'll get rid of the skunky mold odor and/or prevetn mold/mildew or other uninvited guests. (won't work on in-laws, though - I've tried)
Hummmm, if I had a leak I guess the last thing I would do is pour water into the tray so I could watch it soak my interior! But hey.... that's just me!
Exactly how many times did you have to do that to determine that the water was not going outside the car?
Seriously, how is your leg healing?
Dudes,
I effin caved!
Couldnt resolve, so I took it to the dealer.
Will let you guys know the out come.
Bill,
I will take you up on your offer of dessicant as soon
as I get the 996 back. Thanks.
Have fun at the CD regatta!!!!!!
I didnt know Sandy was the wild type.
Hi all,
I know it's a really old thread but it comes up near the top in a google search.
I was misled by the diagram on Page 1 showing the sunroof drains - I thought they were on the car's left hand side only but they are
BOTH
sides (as described above the diagram but not shown for whatever reason!). My right hand drain hose was clogged, cleared it and am now waiting for fresh rain to see how it goes.
Cheers
MK.
