Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
If you think THAT looks clean, imagine how clean it'll look with the lower console deleted entirely.

I only use the magnetic mount when I want to use the phone for navigation.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've been trying to remove the in-car phone on my c4 from 99. I just can't seem to remove the trim that has the phone mount on it. Ive tried snapping it out on the frontal part. But after that I'm stuck. Ill show you some pictures of how far I've come:
Hope any has some tips of how to proceed!
regards
Carl
Grab it from the back and pull outward and forward at the same time. That should work, unless your set up has a hidden screw behind that plate. (unlikely)
Hi! That's the problem, that just doesn't work. It's not like on the other side. I can't find a screw in the inferior hole neither. I tried pulling and pushing the phone base base plate as well but without result.. *sigh*
you need to pry out the round plug with the hole in it. Behind it is a screw which needs to be removed, then you can slide of the plastic plate. Behind the plate are screws to remove the console.
This is mine, the principle will be the same. Just pull at the back of the cover and push away to free the cover. As you can see there is no screw or bolt holding it.
318touring and peterfrans, you guys are my saviours! You don't know how grateful I am! I'll keep you posted, I'll try this after I finish work!
Regards
Carl
Depending on the year of your car, it's probably better to add a bluetooth adapter and get a magnetic phone mount. I had a similar (but not identical) set-up in my MY2000 when I bought it. I bought a used side piece and tossed out all of the phone components. It looks much cleaner and I can keep the phone in the cubby or in my pocket and still listen to streaming music and make calls. I only use the magnetic mount when I want to use the phone for navigation. If you don't have a CDR-220 it's not as easy but still doable.
