Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've used boot camp on a mac before and not keen to reinstall it.
Leading evidence: 'Use boot camp' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace then i'd say go' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I chose the Wifi version because I use my iPhone as the display and also use the iPhone to play music through Bluetooth.

I use both the obdii dongle (paired with the TorquePro app) and Durametric.

Suggestion
If you're doing any type of DIY work outside of oil changes then I'd say go with Durametric.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
I am wanting to purchase an OBD2 scanner.
I'd appreciate any recommendations/comments.
Bluetooth Dongle/app or hardwire to dedicated scanner?
Thanks in advance.
I have a few different ones and all work well. My latest is the iCar III ODB Professional by Vgate. I think it was about $35.
They have one that is Bluetooth, one that is WiFi, and one that is both Bluetooth and Wifi.
I chose the Wifi version because I use my iPhone as the display and also use the iPhone to play music through Bluetooth.
I have the DashCommand app (I think it was $10) and the free version of the Torque app. I prefer DashCommand but they both do mostly the same things.
What I like about the iCar OBD is that it turns on automatically when you start the car and turns off automatically when you remove the key. It also has a very low profile. It sticks out less than an inch. The earlier ones I bought were about 4 inches long and I was always kicking them out when exiting the car.
I think most of the ones available online provide the same amount of data. It's really the app that makes the difference.
I would disagree with this. you can do all kinds of neat things with a 20$ dongle and a free app. If you need to do serious in depth electronic diagnoses on the car then purchase the durametric for sure, but for the average car guy/girl the dongle/app combo is great.
Agreed there are neat neat things that can be done with a $20 dongle, but Im not sure how much value it provides in terms of DIY troubleshooting. Ill admit Ive never used one so I could be wrong.
The durametric, on the other hand, has a pretty incredible feature set. I dont think its comparable in terms of what the two can do when it comes to troubleshooting.
I use both the obdii dongle (paired with the TorquePro app) and Durametric. Each has its place. The obdii is very convenient to use. I just mount my phone on the windshield and fire up the app. Can then monitor the emission readiness in real-time as they set one after another after a DME reset. Can also display the O2 sensor voltage, MAF, fuel trims on the same page.
Durametric can do those too but it's nowhere as convenient.
Durametric excels in displaying oil temp, cam deviations, misfires and all the activation stuff that are especially useful for SAI and variocam troubleshooting.
You could also find a cheap/old windows laptop on ebay and make it your Durametric computer. That was recommended to me and that's the route I'll likely take. The software doesn't require much computing power and one can pick up a 8-10 year old notebook for $50-$100 (in Kiwibuckz, naturally,) in online classifieds.
