Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
I have my iPhone set to a high warm white viewing setting prior to daylight and that must have added just enough orange to the first pic to change it.
Leading evidence: 'Set prior' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Set prior' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

If you could order your 996 today with any PTS color what would it be? Bonus points for pics. I know you love your current car and its current color, but let's get theoretical.
That other image I got straight from Google this time but if not mistaken I think it was on PTSRS Will's insta. I think he's one of the trustworthy sources. Nordic gold is slightly more orange, this appears to be more pink, trully a sort of salmony color
Yeah its definitely not Nordic. I have my iPhone set to a high warm white viewing setting prior to daylight and that must have added just enough orange to the first pic to change it.
Oh, that is so cool! There's something about those classic pastel Porsche colors, this and the Gold Bronze above.
I remembered one more (not in line with the pastels) that I would be interested in seeing in 996 is Fjord Green. My car is Ocean Blue and I find most blues a little boring.
Saw this 996 GT2 at Main Line C&C yesterday.
Not sure if its repainted, a wrap or possibly a PTS.
The back of the sport seats did match the exterior color.
no, I dont think they did. But the question for this game is any historic or current PTS color.
and I think the wildest 996 OEM color wouldve been Violet Chromaflair:

I cant think of any PTS color that Id choose over Arctic Silver Metallic for a 996.
Remember, Arctic Silver wasnt a standard color for the 1999 911.
It was an optional color that cost $805 back in 1998.
Theres a reason so many people paid extra
.
^^ PFFFT! ^^ Really? Isnt arctic silver one of the most common colors for the 996? Yeah 1 paint can I guess its great if you really want to be one of the crowd
Silver wasn't a common color in the 90s for the 911. But the metallic colors became very popular with the 996 because they were different than what was common with the 993 and 964. Red, black and yellow were the rage. Red and black for obvious reasons. RUF made yellow popular.
Just like today, many wanted a different color than mainstream, so they got silver and metallic colors. Myself included with seal grey which was not seen before on the street. Sure, they became popular as a result. Kinda like all the bright colors we are talking about in this thread. Remember, the Carerra GT was launched in silver not purple. Just part of the times.
Yeah, I was considering Zanzibar for a while, but a few instances I've seen of it seemed a bit flat and dull. It may just be that it's 20 y.o. paint getting flatter.
I believe some of these are wrapped others are resprays but some might be factory paint
Viper green
From a Member on here I believe. Factory paint, optional not PTS I seem to remember.
Wrap in mint green
I believe this is a lamborghini color or ford focus rs.
Voodoo blue, liquid wrap
Mexico
Voodoo or python blue?
Martin's ruby star 996
(Lava) orange
ETA Info wrt to voodoo blue car
I've wondered the same.
Of course I can't find it now, but a year or so ago there was a 996 for sale with an
interior
described as PTS (or maybe "color to sample"? and "Bone" color interior. It definitely looked white.
Ring any bells for anyone?
The lacquer may have been heavily marred from years of automatic car washes ? But the colour itself doesn’t loose its shine nor go dull. It is a
very
light sensitive colour. In dull, overcast lighting, it’s almost a brown colour. But in bright sunlight it really pops like very few other Porsche colours.
I needed a small container of touch up paint for some chips, and asked the gentleman mixing it what the formulation was, and was surprised to hear it didn’t contain fine metallic silver, rather the metallic element comes from gold pearl, of which there’s a lot of.
If you look at 996 option sticker under front hood paint to sample cars will have a 998 or 999 instead of a paint code. 998 indicates a Porsche previously offered color a 999 indicates a customer unique color request. I own a 998 code 1999 996 coupe.
Rich
That Viridian Green Metallic in my first post on this thread is also apparently an Aston Martin color. But yeah, this subdued green is gorgeous and I think would suit the 996 very nicely. I wonder what would be the most similar PTS color? Urban Bamboo has some of that but that is a Chromaflair color, so maybe a bit too much.
