I already replaced the other speakers with JBL and this pairs nicely.

I taped off the enclosure's speaker hole, found center, made a pilot hole, used the 40mm hole saw to drill through the back, used the 60mm to cut out the lip the original sub rested on, lined the speaker's flange with foam tape, and put the speaker in.

Suggestion
Then, I cut 5mm of the cut out lip, epoxied it back into a circle, and used it as a collar for the 40mm cut out to be applied as a lid, resealing the enclosure's backside.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I installed this today in my 2003 Carrera 4 Cabriolet with the factory Bose sub box in the passenger footwell: https://www.tb-speaker.com/products/w46-1316n
Sounds wayyyy better. I already replaced the other speakers with JBL and this pairs nicely. Great bass for country and rock music. Obviously can't compete with a dedicated 10"+ sub in a larger box but this was almost plug and play.
Had to put some rubber stripping around the hole to get the seal perfect. New speaker is 4 screw holes old was 6 so had to drill the new holes.
Entire process took 15 min and I'm quite happy. Found the speaker on blue planet acoustic which is in Germany.
I did this last week with a 40mm and 60 hole saw, foam tape, two part epoxy, and masking tape.

Sounds great. My wife is embarrassed when I turn up the bass. Fortunately, I listen to lame new wave music, so not a lot of bass to be found.
