Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

While watching the series of videos on the Sahlen's Porsche 996 GT3 RS restoration, I noticed in part 5 at about the 1:15 time mark they were not restoring normal 996 OEM style headlights. They guy indicated the lights were on the car previously (see first screen capture image below). At various points throughout the video series where they show the car at the track next to other 996 race cars, those other cars appear to use OEM style headlights (example in screen capture two shown below). Why do you think the Sahlen's car was switched over years ago to these alternate headlights? Weight savings? Stronger illumination?

POST 2Original post

I'd guess the (what appear to be) Hella driving lights provided better light for the situation, weigh less and the shape and lens meet whatever class rules apply.

POST 3Original post

At one point u could but the yellow and clear lenses through pmna motorsports. Im sure thet were pricey even for a racecar team. Im guessing cost, availability and function all played into the decision to change the lights.
