Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It does not appear to be available from Porsche, discontinued however there are used ones available.

I replaced the mechanism and it didn't fix the original issue.

I replaced the plastic hook cover which was broken, but that didn't fix the issue.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've been having an issue closing my cab top. The hook comes out early, hits the top where it locks, retracts briefly and then locks successfully. I replaced the plastic hook cover which was broken, but that didn't fix the issue. While I was examining it today I saw that a different plastic piece was hanging on by a thread. When I touched it it came off in my hand. The top still behaves as above with no change. At this point I don't know if this was the cause or just collateral damage.
Is this part replaceable? If so, does anyone know the part number? To replace the whole module is stupid expensive. I've seen used ones on eBay for $5k.

Good luck!
It's not possible to just get that part unless someone want to part out the parts in the mechanism. The whole thing is 996-561-017-01 but you probably knew that.

We are all replacing parts we touched and they crumbled. I went to replace the bulbs in my license plate lights and the light is now held in place with Scotch tape as I wait for an entire component replacement. I know there are some crazy expensive components, but at least they still make the parts.
Update. I replaced the mechanism and it didn't fix the original issue. Looking at how that plastic piece is connected to the mechanism, you'd essentially have to take apart a significant part of the gear mechanism to replace it. It might be possible to superglue it back together. Another possibility is to 3D print a part that snaps over the rod. I tried the re-calibration function in Durametric but it errors and says "not supported".
Does anyone on Long Island, NY have a PIWIS and would be willing to help re-calibrate my top?
