Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi there, Long time reader, first time poster. I've recently bought a new to me 2003 996 4S. The car is in really good shape and Ive changed the IMS as a precaution last week. Since last week I have started to notice some rust forming in the gap of the panel behind the rear glass (see attached pictures). Ive searched online if this is a common place for rust but couldnt find anything. What could be the cause? Is the small panel behind the rear glass (containing the 3rd brake light) easily removable to treat the rust? Or do you think it can be treated / painted without removing that panel? I'm looking forewarn to hearing your opinion! kind regards, Miquel
