Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

So I ask you,,, Piech already saved Porsche once from making this mistake, was it the right move for Porsche to abandon the work, advice, philosophy of probably the greatest automotive engineer ever and change the basic Carrera 911 design that stacked up race winning accolades & waiting list sales, that no other car company can match, world wide.?
Leading evidence: 'Replace basic carrera 911 design' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace basic carrera 911 design' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I found some Porsche history interesting, maybe shedding some light on why our 996 is what it is and not a real Carrera in the true sense of the name. No, got nothing to do with the lights or water cooled engine, its all about capabilies....
Young Ferdinand Karl Piech was hired by Porsche 6 months before the first 911 was released to the public in 1968. The Carrera 911 was already fully engineered and ready for full production when Pich was hired as a young engineering genius.
Pich single single-handedly convinced Porsche to stop Carrera 911 production. Way the story goes, he convinced them that Carrera that means RACE was not up to the task of racing the 911
without dry sump lubrication
. The superior handling Carrera 911 would suffer from oil pressure instability and blow rod bearings in Piech's R&D testing. (where have we heard that before...!!!)
So Porsche under Piech engineering created the dry sump lubrication system that made it possible for the Carrera to be the champion it is today. Without that, the 911 wouldn't be where it is today, thats for sure...
So in the 1970's Piech got forced out of Porsche management. Some say because of his promiscuous escapades within the Porsche family's women/wifes.
But his genius bounced back quick with Audi. Piech developed the first awd/4wd car. The Audi Quattro,,, dominated racing for years till they got penalized for being to good... Yup, Piech again, developed the VW TDI that revolutionized the diesel engine and cars in Europe, and then the best sounding v6 engine ever, the VR 6... He also had a stint with Mercedes creating the 5 cylinder indestructible diesel engine that powered many Mercedes car...
Could go on and on about the genius of Piech, like his development of the W series 12 cyl engine (basically 2 VR 6 linked at the crank) that powered the fastest cars in the world and was successfully used in many different platforms... Then the Piech production flow philosophy of making the best parts for the most expensive cars in quantity and quality, and then letting them eventually flow down to the less expensive models equipping them with superior parts...

Make no mistake the 911 made Porsche the most winning Car Company ever...
Should Porsche have done away with the tried and true 911 Carrera racing capabilities, by not engineering the Carrera 996 with a dry sump...?
Ferdinand Karl Pich , was the brains and engineering genius behind most all the good things that happened to all automobiles in the last half of last century...
It would make an incredible movie. An engineering genius that can't control his own shifter, family scandals, empire building, corporate intrique and even more scandal, racing dominance, car industry leadership and innovation, what more can you ask for. He led a very interesting life.
The final section of the video mentions the Bugatti Veyron driven by Andy House into the marsh near La Marque Texas, in an attempt a 2.2 million dollar insurance fraud. Claiming he was reaching for his phone unkown to him another driver filmed the incident.. Mr. House served one year in a Fed pen and ordered to pay 600K in restitution
