Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Disconnect the battery for 10-20 minutes to let all the caps discharge before starting to take the wheel down.
Leading evidence: 'Disconnect battery' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect battery' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Hook up the airbag and start the Torx screws but don't fully tighten yet.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I tried searching but I wanted a definitive answer. I am swapping out my 4 spoke steering wheel on my 99 C2 manual, for a 3 spoke steering wheel. The 3 spoke wheel is from another manual car but the air bag is from an automatic. It looks to be the same but I just wanted to make sure.
Also any advise on doing the swap would be helpful too.
Thanks in advance.
Pretty sure the airbags are the same. Disconnect the battery for 10-20 minutes to let all the caps discharge before starting to take the wheel down. You will need a set of Torx (can't remember exact size 25, 30 or 40) to take the airbag off the wheel itself. Once the airbag assembly is off use a magic marker to a couple of reference points in case you want to go back to old wheel. This makes putting the old wheel back on prealigned easier. IIRC the nut holding the wheel onto the hub is 24mm. You might want to put a lockjaw or whatever on the wheel with the long piece up. This gives you something to brace both yourself and the wheel with when you break the nut loose. It can be on pretty tight and you want to try to keep the wheel from turning. You want to try to keep the wheels straight for when you put the new steering wheel on. Then hope that the splines line up first try. Pull the wiring for the horn and airbag though the cutouts on the center and make sure they don't get pinched as you put the wheel on. Double check that wires are free before you start tightening the nut. Tighten down the nut (can't remember specs). Hook up the airbag and start the Torx screws but don't fully tighten yet. DO NOT start the car with airbag disconnected as you will set off the CEL and airbag lights. Hook up the battery and start her up turn the wheel a bit to each side then center the steering wheel. Check to see if the wheels are pointing straight forward. If not repeat procedure and move the wheel one spline or so to either side and repeat until front wheels point forward with steering wheel centered. Sound more involved than it is but it is fairly easy to do. I have an Atiwe (same as RUF) three spoke that I have moved between several p-cars through the years and will probably drop into my 996 one of these days. There should be a procedure with pics on the web somewhere if you search. Good luck.
Pelican has this article for you to follow.
I had to take mine off to repair the horn and the Torx were on pretty tight. Its a T27 and you need reasonably long reach, I had one with a screwdriver set that was too short.
