I'm thinking that the P0150 code error is a result of the lean mixture P1124/P1126, and your have already replaced the O2 sensors/MAFS anyway.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I only want to hear from posters who have had these 3 codes on their ub2 scanner. I already know what the codes mean so I do not want any guess work from well intentioned posters. I want a poster who has had these 3 specific codes come up together and how did they solve their CEL which accompanies these codes never to return. I have read lots of postings saying they would come back with the results but NOTHING. No more posts from that person on that subject. Hope that SOMEONE can help me out. Thanks.

POST 3Original post

http://www.pcarworkshop.com/images/d...4_-_p1126_.pdf This contains specific diagnostic procedures for P1124/P1126 fuel mixture Bank 1/Bank 2 too lean. Definition of check engine code P0150: Generic (Common for all car manufacturers): O2 Sensor Circuit Bank 2 Sensor 1 It could be you have two problems. It would help to have some real time values from Durametric. If you are going to throw some $ at it, I would start by replacing the O2 Bank 2 Sensor 1, clear the codes and see what happens. Actually, I would replace both O2 sensor 1's and inspect the exhaust system for leaks. Sorry for the guesswork Hurdi. Just trying to help. Never had those three codes myself.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Joe I have already changed both 02 sensors ahead of cat and the MAFS changed as well. I have not checked the fuel pressure and that may be the next thing in line for me. The procedure is probably same for the 996 as for the 993 you posted.

POST 6Original post

So far so good. Remember our early 99's have a separate fuel filter. At 83,000+ miles it may be time to replace. I think it would be a good idea to smoke check your intake system and check vacuum levels as well. I'm thinking that the P0150 code error is a result of the lean mixture P1124/P1126, and your have already replaced the O2 sensors/MAFS anyway. Since the error codes are for both banks, there has to be a point of commonality, i.e., fuel pump, fuel filter, intake leak and so on. I highly doubt all injectors could be clogged or carbonized at one time as the diagnostic procedure indicates. Have you done any recent engine work? Thinking like maybe the TB gasket or bolts loose....

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK Joe thanks. An indi did work on my gearbox, new clutch and new AOS. The CEL was on before the work and he has not been able to find the fault as yet. WE are throwing work and parts at it. Even went 300 miles after one bit of work I did and thought we had solved it. I would have bet money it was solved after that mileage but up it came again . Next week arrives a valve which I will change at the top of the charcoal canister. Hope that fixes it. If not then onto the fuel pump and exhaust leaks (possible). It has stayed off last 100miles after thoroughly cleaning idle and throttle of carbon build up. Its ticking over on 800. Idle was erratic beforehand but ok now. 1000 steady cold start and settles at a tad under 800rpm.

POST 8Original post

Had at least 2 (P1124/P1126) out of the 3 with my Boxster and a couple of times over the years. Engine running so lean the DME is at its enrichment limit. But the leanness is at idle speed. In the case of my Boxster one time whlle I thought the problem was with the MAF it actually proved to be a failing AOS. Another time and again I thought it was the MAF for these error codes and once in a great while those errors that arise when the DME is at its limit in removing fuel, in other words the engine was running way too rich. But it wasn't the MAF. Proved to be an oil filler tube cap leaking. Easy enough to check. With the engine idling and warmed up just check if there is any free play at the oil filler tube cap. When I did this not only did I find the cap had some play and the engine reacted as I moved the cap about but I was able to lift the cap slightly -- even though it was properly tightened -- and not only did the engine react but the cap remained up rather than as I expected being pulled down tight by the pressure difference. If the oil filler tube cap proves not to be the problem and you move on to check fuel pressure be aware the fuel rail test port cap/seal is not reusable. If removed it should be replaced with a new one and the proper torque is 2.5 Nm or 2 ft/lbs of torque.

POST 11Original post

I can state with absolute certainty that the resolution to not having these codes is to wait. Re-oiling your aftermarket cone filter can help with the missing code situation if you prefer not to wait. Randomly snipping O2 sensor wires, stripping both cut ends, and grounding them will also produce results if waiting time is limited.* HTH. *Ideally, do not do this while standing barefoot in a puddle of petroleum. You know, the joy doesn't come from HAVING the knowledge, it comes from SHARING the knowledge. Pass it on.

POST 12Original post

The only way to be sure what to repair is to do the diagnostics per the shop manual. Read the recorded data stored when the CEL came on,also mode 6 data .I would make sure there are no vacuum leaks or vacuum diaphragms that could cause the lean condition .For an absolute fix though you have to test and repair it per shop manual ,using the tests for those codes.

Are the O2 sensors and MAF from Bosch and are you sure they are the correct part for your model? P0150 Oxygen Sensor Ahead of Catalytic Converter (Cylinders 4 - 6) Intercore Short Circuit or Limited Voltage Increase That could be a wiring issue or a sensor issue and the only way to find out is by monitoring the O2 sensor voltage (of all four O2 sensors). Do you have an OBDII scanner that can do that? If you can collect data, I can help further. That's not the right way and can get expensive and frustrating real fast. Either you spend the time to troubleshoot it systematically or keep shooting in the dark and be very frustrated.
