Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

New porsche owner, experts needed! In December I bought 911-996 40th, number 298. Because of snow and registration I kept the car in the garage, but starting it frequently without any problem. Two weeks ago, sunny Saturday I drove it the whole day without problems, till late in the afternoon when suddenly after a 20 min stop the starter turned but the car didn't start. After trying several times I left the car and one hour later it started and I took-it to the garage. I couple of times after that day, I used it with out any problem, yesterday the last time. Sudenly, today again, the starter turns but the engine don't start. I know that the clutch swith didn't allow the starter to turn, so I think that's not the problem. I changed the battery of the FOB but the car still doesn't start. Any recommendations???

POST 2Original post

You'll have to hook up a proper scanner and see what it shows or else it's just a guessing game.

POST 4Original post

Mine would start fine cold and then have trouble after going somewhere and parking it for a short while. If it sat a while it would start up again. It was the starter motor harness.

POST 5Original post

In addition to scanning the car, pay attention to the tach next time you crank. The needle should move up 1/8" or so when cranking. If it's not moving at all, it's likely the crank position sensor.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Today, It start without any problem :/ Whatever it is, it looks like it's reacts to the ambient temperature. Today was quite less cold than yesterday, Looking forward to scan it. Thanks you all!

Battery in FOB has nothing to do with starting - only provides power for lock/unlock, etc.
