Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
If you feel it's going to cause you to lose sleep until you get a clean bill of heath, get the engine fully inspected - rough running index, compression tests, camshaft deviation, vacuum manometer test, fuel trim, emissions readiness, check coolant for intermix, oil analysis, drop the sump for inspection, etc.
Leading evidence: 'Check coolant' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check coolant' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I would recommend start running oil like DT40 with higher levels of moly.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone.
I finally bought my first Porsche! A day of joy, have been looking forward to it for a long time.
The car I have bought, the 996 C4 2000 model, is known to have its weaknesses. My car has damage in cylinder 6, and it also has some small scratches in cylinders 2 & 3. See attachment.
The car has driven a total of 186xxx. Got a new engine in 2004 at km 57xxx. In other words, the engine has 129xxx km.
I'm not nervous about cylinders 2 & 3, I consider this to be normal wear and tear. Cylinder 6, on the other hand, I'm a little more unsure about. After all, this is the cylinder that tends to get heated, and therefore takes a little more beating.
I don't know if the damage is old or new. I also know that it is quite possible to drive many kilometers without any more problems. I also know that the engine may fail tomorrow...
My plan is to avoid extreme loads on the engine. Of course you have to have fun with it, but you don't need to red mark it all the time... I have equipment to re-inspect the cylinder. I was thinking of doing this in 4-5000 km to see if the damage develops anything.
What would you have done in my shoes?
Thank you very much for any response

The low resolution images make it hard to see fine detail, but... IMHO, cylinders 2 & 3 - normal scuffing of the cylinder wall. Cylinder 6 appears to have some pitting probably caused from FOD like carbon off the piston. Not severe ether. I would recommend start running oil like DT40 with higher levels of moly.
The pictures above is from a Porsche workshop, I do not know which camera they use, but its not of top quality for sure.
Personaly I got a Ontario cam. Pretty good camera quality and not to expensive. Its just a camera on a long cable into a box, and BT conectivity from the box to your phone.
Cam deviation reading is critical to the health of the motor as well. To me, (not saying I'm a Porsche Tech) but the photos of what I can see appear fine other then the pitting but even then it's not enough for me at least to say you need a full teardown. I think ZuffenZeus is correct in using an oil with a lot of moly in it and just watch it. It'll start smoking when it gets worse (if it gets worse) thats when you'll need to make a decision. Just my $0.02 worth.
