Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I should clarify a c2 coupe and gt3 just use gromets near the battery and cowl area.
Leading evidence: 'Use gromets' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use gromets' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was cleaning the water drain hole area in the drivers side cowl area and the drain tube accidentally pushed into the area below. This hole is near the battery tray and under the steering tube. I tried to look into the hole with a light (very difficult) but couldnt see the drain tube. I could see the firewall bulkhead near the hole and I could see a corrugated tube (about 1.5 inch dia.) coming out of the firewall into the area below the hole. Not knowing how to locate and fish the tube out I need to access this area that the drain holes exist in. I couldnt see anything obvious. The car is a 2000 996.1 c4 cab. How can I access this drain tube area?
They fall on top of the gas tank so thay really cant be reached without pulling it. Buy a new rubber grommet and carefully pop it in and forget about the old one.
I should clarify a c2 coupe and gt3 just use gromets near the battery and cowl area. The only gromet with a tube i see is for the ac drain. This may be different for a cab?
Here is a link to the gromet...its in a 997 drawing and does not show up in the 996 pet but its what i have in both my '00 and '04 chassis.

Thanks De, the grommet in question has a tube attached that runs out to the inside of the front wheel well. I wrestled with it again this morning and managed to pull it up through the hole. I may have damaged it a little but I'm sure it is still servicable.
No. 5 here just above the driver's wheel...
What year is your car? Im guessing its early because the gromet i posted is the "new" design. It does explain the holes in either side inside the fender that r not populated in my car.
