The net-net was that for about $600 for Ridies covers and a few dollars worth of zip ties (substitute for hog rings) and some new lumbar bladders, my old seats were replaced by great looking new seats.

If you haven't tried to replace seat covers before and you don't plan on getting good at it, I would probably have a shop do it unless you want people to know you did it yourself.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If the interior of your Porsche feels tired, the seats are usually the first giveaway. Worn or faded seat covers can make even a well-kept car feel older than it really is. One of the easiest ways to make your car feel new again is replacing the seat covers. It completely changes how the interior looks and feels, without going down the full reupholstery route. If anyone is looking for Porsche-specific seat covers, you can check them out here: https://ridies.com/products/porsche Simple upgrade, big difference

How does one install these? Do you have an installation video? Both my 996 and S2K could benefit from these.

I installed Ridies all leather seat covers on. my 2003 Corvette. The leather is so much better than the original Corvette leather, and they fit great. They look like OEM, except better! Youtube videos were a big help. The seats in my 2004 cabriolet are actually in pretty good shape except for the center section in the seat back, which has a split along the stitching. When I get around to this task, I'm going with Ridies, based on my experience. Here's a pic of my seats from my Corvette for reference. Ridies didn't do the embroidery. I got a local shop to add the 50th Anniversary emblem.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wow, they do look amazing. Thank you for taking out your time and for this great review. We would love your feedback on corvette forum as well (if you are a part of that). Thanks Email: [email removed] Phone: [phone removed] Website: ridies.com

Unless your seats are torn and beyond repair, I would think that a simple refinish with a product like this leatherworldtech.com would be both easier and WAY less expensive just sayin as this seems to be an advertisement

Just so you know, all our panels (fronts, sides, back) are made up of 100% real leather. We don't mix vinyl. It's hard to beat us for the value of money that we offer. Email: [email removed] Phone: [phone removed] Website: ridies.com

POST 10Original post

Fair enough, but for me, it's great news that these guys make 996 seat leather replacements. I bought my 2003 Corvette with very ratty seats, and was expecting to pay a fortune to get them recovered. I did some research and found a great video from C&S Corvettes that gave step by step instructions to recover my seats. The net-net was that for about $600 for Ridies covers and a few dollars worth of zip ties (substitute for hog rings) and some new lumbar bladders, my old seats were replaced by great looking new seats. Everyone who saw them was impressed. So, if you don't like ads, skip this post, but if you have issues with your seats, this can be valuable information, especially since most Porsche parts are pretty expensive. This is a project that you can do yourself, as I did. The results can be dramatic, not overly expensive, and get compliments from admiring fans! Taking the seats out also enabled me to rebuild the lumbar bladders, the associated pump, AND find several dollars in pocket change that had made its way under the seat tracks. Here's what one of the seats looked like just after getting the leather on. I had to remove the seatback leather to add the embroidered logo, but that was not a big deal. The wrinkles worked out after a few days.

POST 11Original post

Can you do the the center inserts on the 996 standard seats with peptia material?

POST 12Original post

Quotes source post: 20358989

Yeah, Baby! I suspect it's not directly in their wheelhouse, but I'd be tickled if I could do that! Those center sections aren't too hard to remove, and the Pepita would look amazing!

POST 13Original post

Im pretty sure the rumply look to leather costs more in a Porsche and is the comfort seat option. JK

You definitely did a great job. And yes, wrinkles do go away eventually after few weeks of usage if the steamer is used. Email: [email removed] Phone: [phone removed] Website: ridies.com

They use steamer or heat gun. Also, please know that wrinkles do go away eventually after few weeks of usage. So once covers are installed, just sit on those seats and those wrinkles will go away. Thanks Email: [email removed] Phone: [phone removed] Website: ridies.com

Yes, we recommend that you get these installed professionally. But a bout 50% of our customers install these themselves. You dont really need special skills or equipment (except steamer, hog rings and hog ring plier). It will take few hours though. First seat cover will take a little longer than the 2nd one. You might want to watch few videos on youtube and see if this is something you can do or not. Thanks Email: [email removed] Phone: [phone removed] Website: ridies.com
