Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

18 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can it really be just the color combo? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...referralCode=2

POST 2Original post

It's $25k, that's not that cheap for a 996.1...

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Even when it comes to a clean title below average mileage coupe? I feel like most i've seen are in the mid 30'a

POST 4Original post

Pretty average spec, with meh wheels and a **** poor attempt at an advert.

POST 5Original post

I think the $25k is just click bait. It says best offer over $25k and its been listed for 6 weeks. He definitely has a number and its probably way too high.

POST 6Original post

Colors, aesthetics, something about the overall look with those, um, interesting wheels, the low contrast stripe, dark rear seat bases and rear center console...something just seems not "right"...

These type of ads always make wonder if they were equally lazy about maintenance...

POST 8Original post

Terrible photos, bad wheels, puzzling color combination probably worth the $25k he is asking if he has the service records, but I wouldnt consider that cheap.

It shows overall effort. I tend to judge cars by the tires they're on too If you're being cheap about the only thing keeping you on the road then I'm worried about the rest of the choices made. Having said that, there are diamonds in the rough out there where the person simply stinks at the selling part. This benefits the buyer as it lowers the potential pool of interested buyers who skip the car.

POST 10Original post

If it is a private sale, why does it have one of those yellow dealer style key FOB on the ignition key? Not that this affects value, but it looks like it is presented as a private sale based on the picture in front of a house? (I don't do the Facebook stuff so have not seen other photos). I don't think the price is low base on my experience.

POST 11Original post

This is a pretty average price. Cheap would be under $20,000 I bought a 2002 996.2, Manual, C2 Cabriolet, 68,5xx miles, for $18,500 on 11/31/2025. 45 minute train ride from downtown Chicago. At the same time, Porsche of Downtown Chicago had a very similar car priced at $27,995. Neither of these prices is at the High, nor Low ends of the market.

POST 12Original post

I've seen some hefty prices on BaT go by recently for 6sp C2s. Tips and Cabs tend to go lower than this 6 sp manual at 75K miles. While I agree with the general consensus this is being poorly marketed, who knows why? I bought my car from a friend whose dementia took away his ability to drive. He could not have made an ad with any clarity. If I were looking, this car is worth further investigation.

POST 13Original post

Seeing this discussion on process, I'm starting to think I might be better off selling my 2004 C4S when I rotate back to the states in summer 2028 (if I'm lucky, else summer 2027). Either way my car would be short of 25 years. Not sure if storing for, best case scenario, 6 months would work.

POST 14Original post

Imho, if the car was in awesome shape and a keeper, and you know all the work that's been done to it, I wouldn't hesitate sitting the car for 6 months or a year until I could register and drive it in the states. If its just a "car" to you, then sell it and find something in the states.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You're selling a c4s you say?

I agree with @GC996 My car sat for a year, albeit inside, in Palm Springs before I bought it. The previous owner lost his drivers license due to illness. The gas wasn't treated, nothing was done. I changed all fluids and oils, new tires, new battery and she has had two stellar used oil analysis done.

POST 17Original post

Here are my issues. In engine bay circled in red. Location as in a clock face. 12 oclock: Very unusual wear. Why would the black edging be worn/corroded? It looks like this damage extends to other areas left and right. Water damage? Odd 3 oclock. Jump point cover is left open. Has it had to be jumped recently? I would check voltmeter in car when engine is both cold and warm. 7 oclock. Where is the cover to the alternator pulley missing AND there is a new serpentine belt. Was it replaced because the other one was worn out or were they trying to solve a problem like alternator not charging? 10 oclock Unusual wear patter on that bracket to the left of the hose.
