I also used the big connector from the old seats and spliced it into the wiring on the 997 seat.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I posted this on 987 board with no assist. I installed 987 seats into the 996. Good price. Didn't hook up power and got the infamous airbag notification light on dash. I am not too worried about that. The problem is the seat rail covers that go on top of the rails after you install. The inner rail covers slide right on (closest to center console) The outer rail covers do not (closest to doors). Is there a trick to installing these?

POST 2Original post

Bumping the thread. I'm looking at a set of 987 seats and am curious whether the seatbelt thing can be fixed or not, I seem to be finding alternate opinions on this - some say that using the 996 seat belt receptacle fixes it, some say it persists - what's the story?

POST 3Original post

I used the 996 receptacle on the 997/987 seats and never had any issues wrt warning lights. I also used the big connector from the old seats and spliced it into the wiring on the 997 seat. Big improvement btw, no more sore back for me after the swap.

What seat did you have before? The comfort or the sports one? I have a lead on a very cheap set of 996 sports ones, but I'm wondering if I should just splurge for a set of 997 seats instead (but I'm not clear on which of those I should get ... there's a cheap set of 987 alcantara ones, but they don't have the "ears", so I guess they're the base ones... and I don't even know if I should want those or not?)

POST 5Original post

Not sure what the correct name is, but I have the ones in this pic. They were the only seats in my entire driving career that gave me severe lower back pains. I added lumbar support, it did not help. They might be great seats for other people, but definately not for me (6'4").

POST 6Original post

Those are exactly the ones I am looking to buy, hmm - these are the "sports" ones because of the ear-like things on top. What did you get instead, then?

POST 7Original post

I have these now. Powered, lumbar support etc.

POST 8Original post

The ears are less pronounced than on the 996's, which might have been the main issue for me.

POST 9Original post

Interesting. Maybe I should hold on to get those... it does seem like the 997 seats are way better, then.

POST 10Original post

for my body they are, other people might have different experiences.

POST 11Original post

Won't get my 996 for another couple weeks so don't know how they are long term but I drove several during my search to find a 911. Found the sports seats uncomfortable, especially in the lower back area. Comfort seats were great. Thankfully the one I ended up buying had the comfort seats. I'm 6', 168lbs.
