Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The top wood of my steering wheel is cracked and coming off. I bought a universal kit online, but it doesn't look or fit very good.

POST 2Original post

if it was easy, everybody would do it. you have to send the wheel to a wheeel specialist and have it redone, or buy one on ebay

POST 3Original post

I'm having mine redone at the moment by a guy in Florida, along with the door trims. Hoping to have it back in a couple of weeks - I'll let you know how it turns out.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well shoot! I was hoping there was something I could snap on that was made just for the 911 wheel.

POST 5Original post

You could always put a leather grip over the wood and live with it. I'm having the same problem with my wife's Volvo... only easy (not cheap) options are replacement or refinish by a pro. If it's just the clear coat, you may be able to tackle it yourself, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you're experience with refinishing this type of thing. Sanding a wheel is tedious work and it's easy to mess up the leather portion if you're not careful and getting the right finish is another pain in the butt. Another option would be to find a used replacement on eBay. Why not post a picture for us to see and maybe we can keep a eye for used ones. Cheers!

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've got it covered with a snap on universal replacement for now. The veneer is about 80% gone at this point. I'll look into a refinish and eBay. Thanks!

POST 7Original post

Google craft customs in Texas. I'm getting my Burl door trim some there right now. That's the best place I know of for steering wheel repair at reasonable prices.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just sent them an email. Thanks!
