Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Car is pretty much "ordinary care", needs cleaning, color correction, polish, yada, yada, yada.
Leading evidence: 'Clean color correction, polish, yada, yada, yada' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). If a mod can change the poll options to allow multiple votes, that would be great.

Our first 996 was Lapis Blue, it was taken out by a guy running a stop sign who used the passenger door for target practice, so I know there wouldn't be a duplicate if I entered a vote for that car also.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The goal of this poll is to get a rough idea of individual color counts for all the colors available on the 996. Since RL polls allow only 20 choices, this poll is
only
for metallic colors. I will create another thread to poll non-metalic colors.
My cab is an Ocean Blue Metallic car, so that puts it at 4 so far. I recall reading somewhere that in the early 2000's, silver cars (all brands) were the most popular color then. I suspect they'll be the most common among the 996 crowd, as well. Looking at Paul's beautiful example reminds me that my car is overdue for wax.
On Rennlist that is... While I'm sure we'd all like to believe that Rennlist is the be all and end all for Porsche owners, I'm pretty sure it represents only a small percentage of all Porsche owners around the world or even in the US
Might not be a 996 but my '93 928 GTS is Lagoon Green Metallic one of one for 1993. As far as my research goes, lagoon green was only offered in 1987-88 model years.
Mine was Midnight Blue Metallic, I traded it in at a Porsche dealership, so I went ahead and voted in the poll. I haven’t seen it resurface here on Rennlist.
That was a mistake on my part. The poll has the option to allow multiple votes, but at the time I felt the data might be more reliable with just one response per person. In retrospect, I should have enabled it. If a mod can change the poll options to allow multiple votes, that would be great. Come to think of it, I had two myself. Our first 996 was Lapis Blue, it was taken out by a guy running a stop sign who used the passenger door for target practice, so I know there wouldn't be a duplicate if I entered a vote for that car also.
Atlas Grey Metalic 2004 Only.
I have had it for 2 months now. Car is pretty much "ordinary care", needs cleaning, color correction, polish, yada, yada, yada. I am restoring Porsche Design 47 wheels for it. I am not a fan of twists...
https://www.carsaddiction.com/en/whe...rsche/style-47
Doing typical stuff, front off- clean radiators, find frunk cable, rear off, engine mounts, water pump, maybe UAOS, etc... And I
like
the "pumpkins", nice color contrast.
YMMV
I have had unsolicited compliments on it. A jacked-up nose-bleed 4WD truck fellow gave great compliment at gas station, lady cashier at a Maverick came out of store to ask what it was, insurance agent loved it, never seen one before, and more.
I love it! Nearly the same wheels I am restoring. The wheels you have only go to 10"x18, but still a great choice. I was on the fence +/- about the Atlas Gray, but bought it anyway cuz 4S and $$. It is sort of "growing on me". especially after so many compliments on the car and color, totally unsolicited! BTW, the point of P-emblem is supposed to point to the valve stem, if that is of any interest to you.
The wheels I have are 8"x18 and 11"x18 for a WB. I have new "silver" wheel caps with full color P-emblem waiting for the finish. When I get it all put together I'll post photo.
Cheers, YMMV
Given the amount of colors available, I wonder how many variants there are in interior colors?
Paladio metallic with Boxster Red leather interior, 33K miles.
FWIW-
I like these wheels because they are elegantly simple and show the great looking Porsche brakes. I could not find a rear wheel of 11" wide. Many appear on Boxsters. In addition, I prefered to keep the 18" diameter. It is less harsh than a 19" diameter.
Many of the wheels in the photos are 19s, 8" & 10" wide, I do not know offsets. I think they are a 997 wheel. I Wheel sizes for 996 C4s are 8Jx18 and 11Jx18. The 996 C4S specs are Front Offset 48-52, Rear Offset 43-47. Offset is in mm. There is different spec for Winter tire (ET and tire size) on 10" rim.
These 5-point star wheels have sharp (inverted) "v" on outside edge. There are other similar 5-point star designs that have a flat curved "face", and another with a curved face+flat slope star.
The decision is to decide for 18" or 19" diameter and/or stay with 8J and 11J rims. Flat-curved "face" rims that I have are:
8J x 18 ET 51 997 362 142 00
11J x 18 ET 57 997 362 136 00
I have not yet mounted then on my C4S, but know I will add wheel spacers in rear at the minimum. Adding spacers reduces offset. xxET - (spacer) = Net ET. Remember that the C4S requires front tire to be larger diameter than rear tire for the "4" to function. A C2 makes all of diameter size difference non-existent. I looked for 5-point star wheels for over 8 months and found a used set. A week later, another set was in Marketplace. After that, zero 5-point star wheels. There have been a few cars on pcarmarket.com that have same/similar wheels, but are usually rare. I just spent some time on the rims and they look 100% better than when I received them, not perfect, but darn close. After all, it

Wheel spacers need longer wheel bolts, or replace everything with longer studs+nuts. Reasonable $ spacers at
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-rennline-parts
, various assorted thickness. There are others, more/less $$, some without bolts. I do not have rolled fender lip, not lowered, yada-yada, so I will fit wheel/tire on and measure/calculate what size spacer. Front & rear will be different spacers.
