Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I believe I've read somewhere that it's possible to achieve wireless CarPlay with a dongle connected to the USB/aux box and/or installing the box in the batwing? Pardon my ignorance and dumb question, but what is the batwing? Just trying to research this before deciding on the PCCM+ which I'm leaning towards vs aftermarket. Thanks in advance.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ahh, thank you. So people have hidden the USB box behind this with a wireless dongle to achieve wireless CP? Or is there a different or better way? Or no way?

POST 4Original post

If you want to have wireless AA or Carplay an additional "dongle" will be needed. If you're looking to go that way, I'd try to hide the box out of view. I have no plans to use the AUX connection and the USB can still be used if you want to charge your phone from it. Just run a cable to a desired location. I'm still putting on final touches on my install but plan to hide the box in the space behind the carpeted panel on the center console, near your feet. You can also do this solution which is pretty neat and keeps things out of sight. Personally, the location Porsche has been using at dealer installs is very blah and looks tacked on. You Tube

POST 5Original post

This is what is looks like when you install the USB box in the batwing. I had a local installer make the modification which turned out really well. The installer did say the wire to connect to the radio is not very long, so it makes connection a little tricky. I'm sure others can chime in who have installed wireless dongle with PCCM+.

POST 6Original post

I had the box installed in the glove compartment, I bought this item on Amazon that plugs into that box and allows for wireless CP/AA Amazon Amazon

Hello, I would like to do the same to my 996. Just purchased the PCCM+, but would like to keep the look as factory as possible. Do you mind sharing the business name of the installer. Im not sure if they are local, but Id like to give them a call to ask if I may ship my parts. I do not have the tools for this myself, (3d printer, modeling program, precise measuring tools). Im up for a project, but those pieces are out of my budget/ time limit. thank you for your help. Your 996 is inspiring me.

Appreciate the kind words! Let's see, I had the PCCM+ installed and batwing modified by Car Audio Innovations (CAI) in Roseville, CA. https://www.caraudioinnovations.com/ They're well respected in the Porsche (overall) and 996 (specifically) communities. Rod is the owner who I'm sure would be happy to speak more about their services. Good luck!

POST 10Original post

I've been using this wireless dongle for about a year now and it's been rock solid: Amazon Amazon It was plug and play once connected to your phone's Bluetooth. Syncs with PCCM+ within seconds and has good sound quality. I have it all tucked away in the space behind the HVAC controller so nothing is visible.

Hi, do you plug the Motorola dongle into the USB slot in the front of the PCCM+?
