Hey all, I�m seeing a ton of different ones popping up on Google when I search for a Bosch 996 starter. Prices vary wildly as well from $250 on Amazon to over $1K on some sites. Is there a clear Bosch model number or link someone can give me to the one that definitely fits and works? thanks!

Bosch number SR0808N is the new. SR0808X is rebuilt. I would buy it from eeuroparts.

Never ever buy a rebuilt starter. I did when I replaced my original starter. It lasted a year before the bendix housing broke. What a PITA. I was trying to save a buck. Well, lesson learned. Bought a brand new Bosch starter for the big $$, replaced starter again and it has been going for over 10 years now.

Amazon has the SR0808N starter for $235.78. I installed it a few months ago and it works great.
