Porsche 996 Wheels Value

A neighbor gifted me a set of Porsche 996 wheels. I would like to know their value. He said he had them stored in his garage x 20 yrs after upgrading to Carrera GT3 wheels. What you have there are factory turbo twists with correct offsets for a 996. Years ago when folks were upgrading their 17 in inch wheels those were $1000-1200 a set now most people have already updated and are looking for Hollow Spokes, Sport Classics or Sport Design BBS wheels as a 996 upgrade. Depending on your wheels condition $500-800 in the iused wheel market, hope this helps. Rich

Porsche calls it 18" turbo look wheel, to discern it from the 18" turbo wheel, that has the hollow spokes. You'll save yourself answering the same question from interested parties by calling it turbo look should you advertise it, even though the picture of the spoke's backside shows it to those in the know. Just as a tidbit of info for educational purposes: What you call the wheel ID is actually the load rating of each wheel. Force in radial direction is 4400/5750 N(ewton) for the respective wheel. Since they carry 993 part numbers, they fit the 993 too (as that's where they were carried over from to the 996). GLWS.

You can get closer to a fair price if you can assure the buyer that they weren't removed from the car because they were bent. You can't always tell from a visual inspection. If you can get a shop to say they are not bent, it would help with resale.

You're not wrong, but in the 30+ years that I've been a car nerd, not once have I seen an ad for used wheels that had independent documentation stating that the wheels were not bent. Wholly unnecessary. Clean them up, take good pictures, toss on eBay at NR and call it a day.

I too have sold and bought many Porsche wheels over the years, I have a good tire guy that spins any wheels I am selling for a couple of bucks I like doing that so not only does buyer know they were straight when bought but it also prevents any surprises when buyer mounts and balances tires after purchase. I agree with the wheel damage statement of fact. If not a long time RL Member, Id ask for a report. Not for a 500 set wheels but when I bought a set of 930 Fuchs I asked for an inspection and balance report. Wheel set at the time was 2500.00 plus shipping.

Do all the wheels have that sticker from Wheel Technologies? EDIT: I see you stated only one wheel has the sticker so looks like that wheel may have needed repair in the past. Any signs of prior damage and subsequent repairs, welds or refinishing? If you still had the tires mounted, you could say they hold air and subsequently can assure the buyer they are functional. Pricewise, I think around 500 would be fair, but these aren't super rare or as highly sought after as the hollow spoke or true turbo wheels. I'd be interested to see what you actually sell them for.

I see them on FB marketplace all the time for $500- $1000 a set depending on condition. I have two sets myself. ha!

I sold a set in 2018 that were in fantastic shape with brand new tires. I had them on Craigslist for three months at $1,200 with no luck and finally sold them when I lowered the price to $1,100 (without center caps).

I gave away a set last year because no one would buy them.

If you clean the insides really well, I�m sure you could sell them for at least $1,000.

Where are you located? If close by, I might be able to help you get rid of them quickly.

03pcoupe, Yes, just one the 10" wheels had the Wheel Technologies sticker, so perhaps it was repaired or a replacement wheel. I don't think the guy who gave them to me would lie about their condition, since he had nothing to gain. I saw no evidence of repairs, although I will re-check again. A prospective buyer might have concerns not knowing the history. Thanks.

996love. I tried Armour All QuickSilver II Wheel Cleaner with only modest results. Is there another product that might clean the inside of the wheel better and easier? Thanks.

When I have my wheels off and want to clean the barrels, I use liberally amounts of mineral spirits. Soak a cloth rag and go at it.

I have no idea, sorry. DBJoe�s suggestion sounds like a good one to follow. If you�re looking for more ideas, this post by Ocean Blue shows a spectacular cleaning job of his lower engine bay. I suppose you could also try the product that he linked, but I really have no idea if it�ll work for wheels too.
