Just a quick question. I desperately need new engine mounts. I've seen a lot of people on 993 and 964 forums talking about putting 996 mounts on their car. The best I can tell Porsche has kept the mount design the same throughout the years. Just wanted to see if y'all could shed some light on this. Can I put 993 engine mounts on my 996 c2? I'm asking because there are some much more affordable ones that were made for those models.

These are the ones I took off my 2000 996 back in the spring. You can see the 993 on them. I replaced them with the basic ones from Pelican Parts.

Yes, the current engine mounts for a 996 are 993 part numbered - they are the same You can also use genuine 964 RS mounts on a 996 as well if you want semi-solid and couldn't decide between wevo and RSS - like me!

I think others have bought mounts off rockauto for around $75, not sure how good they r but no one has complained so far.

I changed mine out last fall with the stock mounts. Don't remember where I got them. I think it was a vendor on Amazon that was recommended in this forum. They are OEM (Rein), but not in the Porsche box, and at a fraction of the Porsche price. You can use the advanced search of this forum and you will find threads where members discuss the many "upgrade" mounts. There are all sorts of options. The upgrades are almost all solid, or semi-solid mounts.

Got mine (Rein) on Amazon, free shipping to Hawaii was the best deal for me but Rock Auto has very good pricing as well.
