Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Check d1 fuse and its good' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check d1 fuse and its good' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

To unplug the alarm, you may want to disconnect the battery first, then unplug the alarm, then reconnect the battery.

Fault codes for torque adaption required replacing turbo inlet pipes, vacuum leak to fuel pressure regulator.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a dead short on the power window circuit in a 2003 911. I have disconnected the doors at the hinge connection, the engine compartment at the connection inside the engine compartment, the overhead console at the three connections , the boot at the light and unplugged the two window switches and still have a fault to ground. I have looked for any sign of rodents and tried to move the wiring bundles to see if I could remove the fault but it is still there. When a fuse is put in, it blows immediately. It had blown a fuse two times previously but accepted a new fuse. It would have a sluggish start and blow the fuse. I don't know where else to look and hoped someone on this forum might have an idea. Thanks for any ideas.
C3 is a bit tricky because it has lots of consumers. It's not supplying power to the windows though (fuse D1 is).
C3 supplies power to two branches:
1) the Alarm unit, which in turn connects to the door locks, central lock button -> boot light, glove box light
2) interior sensors, alarm siren, interior lights, power top
I suggest you use a smart fuse and unplug the above units one by one and see if it makes a difference. To unplug the alarm, you may want to disconnect the battery first, then unplug the alarm, then reconnect the battery.
Can you elaborate on "It would have a sluggish start and blow the fuse"?
Also, any recent work done to the car?
Thanks, I checked the d1 fuse and its good. Windows do not operate except they do drop to open and close doors.
The car is on a battery tender but times the windows became inoperative, the starter acted like the battery was low. Motor struggled to turn but started. Then I would notice windows wouldn't work.
Most recent work required removing the engine. Fault codes for torque adaption required replacing turbo inlet pipes, vacuum leak to fuel pressure regulator. Car was going in to limp mode. That was in April, maybe 500 miles ago.
Yes, I assumed that the window and door circuits would be the same. My fuse diagram says c3 has central locking system, power windows, inside lights, sunroof. I haven't disconnced the central licking switch yet so maybe that is it? Thanks for you ideas, they helped. I will repost on the other forum next.
I would not bet on wiring being the same. In fact, based on your description, they sound different.
Anyway, hope you have better luck in the 996 turbo forum. You really want a copy of the wiring diagram for your model/yr in order to chase this further.
