Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
The best repair is probably the electric conversion.
Leading evidence: 'electric conversion' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'electric conversion' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check before posting' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Discussions that contain suggestions

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am now fully qualified to ask questions here, having read the FAQ/fixes thread (though not all the referenced threads), and all 38 pages of
https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...96-thread.html
which was a great thread btw. Also I fixed the seat position memory to the key (thank you list search) so I dont have to endure that groaning noise as it sets to POs position when unlocked. (Is the groaning noise a problem? If I move the seat from the controls while sitting in the seat, it doesnt do it, so Im not too worried.)
1. The new car (2004 911 turbo cab Tiptronic) came without a manual. Does anyone have a link to pdf for this specific one? Im thinking about paper too
...
2. Rear spoiler seems to work manually fine up/down - I dont know what its supposed to look like so not 100% sure. If I exceed 75 or so, at some point the red spoiler warning light on the dash comes on, with the detailed message something like spoiler deployment failure. Error indication stays on until car is turned off. From searching the list it sounds like its designed to do this if auto deployment takes longer than 15 seconds. When I do it from the rocker switch on the dash, its less than that.
Im curious if anyone has experienced the same, and what the fix was.
thanks!
A sluggish or uneven rising spoiler is unfortunately not uncommon on these turbos. That is what usually causes the failure light. Somewhere around is a statement from Porsche that warns “Driving above 75? Mph without the spoiler deployed can cause unstable handling.”
The best repair is probably the electric conversion.

There are also instructions on Rennlist and around the web for bleeding/adding fluid.
If your cylinders are leaking there are a couple of outfits that rebuild them.
Thanks for checking before posting. There's a separate 996 Turbo forum and their spoiler mechanisms are different than ours (N/A 996) so you may have better luck there.
