Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suspected cause

Most likely the rodent chewed the wiring on top of the engine near the sensor where wires are individually exposed.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've tried to find a clear one, but have so far come up empty. Hoping someone here can help. Apparently I have a short to ground on the wiring from some mouse damage. I'd like to know the best way of getting to it with the least amount of removal.

POST 2Original post

From my reading experience, it requires an engine drop. It is too difficult to get it out with the engine in the car.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks. hopefully I don't need to remove it, just get to the wiring so it can be repaired

POST 4Original post

#21 here http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=104-05 The problem is the length of it and location. About center of the top of the engine and requires removal of at least one of the intake manifolds. Hopefully you can find the wiring for it and check it out.

POST 5Original post

Remove the air cleaner, throttle body, and center intake runner. You should be able to see the wiring to the oil level sensor . The harness comes from the sensor into the main loom that comes to the rear passenger side on the intake manifold beside the A/c compressor, then over to the passenger side inner fender. Most likely the rodent chewed the wiring on top of the engine near the sensor where wires are individually exposed.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
