Unfortunately, they don't show this spoiler (the front lip spoiler that accompanies the Carrera Wing when used on a 996.2) there.
Use on some european camping trailers and is much cheaper

The same light is used on some European camping trailers and is much cheaper from British Ebay or a trailer supply place.

In the T Equipment brochure it looks like it's probably the same, but the images are poor and from different angles).

Suggestion
Maybe you want to run the carerra wing but don't want to change the 996.2 front bumper nor want to put on any front splitter due to clearance concerns, but you still want a little front end downforce, look at demon's side GT3 planes.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I paid $700.00 for mine from Craigslist but it came with the deck lid too. I think $500 is a good price if it's in nice shape (they're almost $3,000 from the dealer). Painting it was the most expensive part.
Seems a great price if OE. A good poly or glass copy will run $1,000 or more sanded and primed. That spoiler sold my wife on the car. I waffle about getting the Ruf version of it (slightly larger and a smidge taller) or the GT wing, but I dont plan on the full aero to go with the GT wing...yet.
The way it mounts is kind of funky. I guess you could fab something but I don't think it would look quite right.
To the OP, if you end up buying it, here's the complete parts list in case it's missing anything.
And speaking of parts, hopefully this plastic trim cover piece isn't broken because depending where you buy it, it's $175.00 to $300.00.
The brake light is made by Hella and is about $100.00 from Porsche. The same light is used on some European camping trailers and is much cheaper from British Ebay or a trailer supply place.
Anyone know anything about the aerodynamic effect of this, whether with or without the lip spoiler that comes with it for the 996.2? Porsche says it enhances the aerodynamics, but does not say whether this it improves lift or drag, nor whether it makes either of them worse.
Don't have any idea on the aero effect. Never been able to find the info. But as you probably already know, they recommend a combo with the aero front bumper. Hopefully someone will have the info. Always thought the wing looked good on the 996, but its always been very expensive.
I was able to find a cabrio rear spoiler with the OE profile, including the brake light, for a reasonable price like $750 or so new in the box rather that the $3k+ the dealer wanted for it. I can't find the receipt, so no idea where I bought it. Turned out really good, though.
Just in passing observational experience at the track helping folks get their cars to handle,
The rear spoiler if its much bigger than the stock 996.2 pretty much requires
the front lip/splitter if your playing on track at higher speeds. (High speed entry long straights... )
I mainly noticed it when cars hit a long hard fast line, then brake, the dive is a lot more obvious
as the car comes off the aero bubble over the rear..
They recommend a combo with the aero front bumper for the 996.1, but also sold it alone. (Assuming the wing in the "Aerokit Carrera", part number 000 044 801 89 (or alternately ending in 90) is the same as the wing with the part number shown above. In the T Equipment brochure it looks like it's probably the same, but the images are poor and from different angles). For the 996.2 they only sold it with a front lip spoiler added to the regular bumper. So I figure the wing reduces lift. Would like to know the impact on drag, or at least whether it's positive or negative.
On the one hand, Porsche provides better service to owners of older cars than most manufacturers, so maybe I shouldn't complain. But if the topic is room for improvement, well, they could do better at sharing info. And not just for older cars. It's seems that when they've offered aerokits for current models recently, it hasn't been possible to find out the aerodynamic effects. Yet it seems to me almost certain than they have tested all these bumpers, spoilers, and wings in a wind tunnel and/or on track. Otherwise, they wouldn't claim (unspecified) aerodynamic benefits for this wing (which they do). They wouldn't always insist that one end cannot be changed without changing the other if they did not know that the changes at each end did in fact make a difference. In fact, I think they otherwise wouldn't sell these parts at all. Get the aero wrong on a car that fast and someone will get hurt.
I have recently asked Porsche Classic about this wing. Although it hasn't been terribly long, I haven't heard back yet, and I'm not terribly optimistic. Maybe in addition to selling parts, they should sell information. If they have (or create) organized archives and have people who know how to use them, this could be done profitably at a cost that would, often enough, be worth it.
Anyway, at present, if anyone else wants to know, then you should of course also ask Porsche and/or your dealer. Who knows, maybe one of us will get lucky. Or maybe if there is enough interest, someone at Porsche will dig up the info.
Here's the TechArt spoiler - Dealer option - that came with my car. Don't worry the GT3 tramp stamp is long gone. I noticed the front end gets a little squirrely at speed since it does not have a chin spoiler to offset the whale tail spoiler. Seat of the pants conclusion - yes, it makes a difference. Now, where to find a good front bumper with chin spoiler for not a TON of $$...?
Unfortunately, I did not see anything there that might be a good match for the Carrera Wing. Indeed, I didn't see anything there that could make sense on the street. One of the reasons I'm interested in this wing is that the GT3 bumper and wing combination, while undoubtedly better for lap times, don't work on the street. I asked my local Porsche specialist how it works with Turbo and GT3 bumpers. The answer: With the Turbo bumper, be very careful when (perpendicular) parking. With the GT3 bumper, just don't do it. My customers don't. A friend with a couple of GT3s confirmed - the bumpers gets broken all the time. Not for me.
So the Carrera Wing is interesting, in part, because it doesn't need a deep front spoiler/splitter/bumper to balance it out. And I'm not really interesting in using a front setup other than the one Porsche tested and recommends with it.
Anyone know the part number for that front lip spoiler? (Not shown in the PET, the TEquipment catalog, or the Porsche Classic web pages.)
Thanks for the tips and advice. Unfortunately, they don't show this spoiler (the front lip spoiler that accompanies the Carrera Wing when used on a 996.2) there. Perhaps with a bit more Googling ... .
Sure they do. Toggle down to the bottom and you will see aerokit 2 spoiler for the aerokit 2 front bumper. Question is will you run the carerra wing or GT3 wing. The carerra wing isn't adjustable. The GT3 wing is, so you will need to play with the angle to get the right balance at high speeds. Many of the guys run this set up now using the demon splitters and can give you practical advice.
If you go to demons website you will see 2 choices that will bolt on to your 996.2 front bumper. One is a GT3 street and the other is track. Unless you want to go to the aerokit 2 front bumper and spend 1500 plus paint, it's easier to go with the demon front spoiler on your oem 996.2 bumper.
Your biggest decision is what height will you run the car regardless of if you are using the aerokit 2 bumper and spoiler or oem bumper and spoiler. Always a clearance issue when you lower the car or add a front spoiler. Same can be said with deep sump.
Keep us posted.
It's all very confusing. If you buy the Carrera wing in kit form that comes with the front lip, it's part number 996.505.555.01 and looks like this (not my pics).
More info
here
.
Part #996.505.986.00 is usually referenced as the correct lip and looks like this.
What makes it even more confusing, is that the 996.1 Aerokit bumper that supposedly doesn't
need
a lip, is pre-drilled to take the above lip (996.505.986.00).
SoCal is right, it is confusing.
Here is one more solution to think about. Maybe you want to run the carerra wing but don't want to change the 996.2 front bumper nor want to put on any front splitter due to clearance concerns, but you still want a little front end downforce, look at demon's side GT3 planes. Alot of guys run them on their 996s as well.
here is a previous post on installing the wing and also a link the to new wiring harness you will need in order for the fan and light to work.

This is completely subjective but I did remember noticing that the dirt on the rear of the car after drives was hitting the car completely differently when I first added it to my car. There was a lot more than before so .. one would tend to say its greater.
Hmm, I had kind of assumed it wouldn't be an issue with this lip spoiler. I imagined it would be flexible. But now that you mention it, I don't really know. In the photos, it looks like the part that sticks down might be rubber - or might not. At least it sits fairly far back, which helps.
Anyone know whether it is flexible?
Yeah, I'm sure it has some effect. Porsche does say it enhances the aerodynamics, and I'm inclined to trust them. The problem is that this can mean many things. It seems quite likely it reduces lift. Otherwise you wouldn't need the lip spoiler with the wing. But I'd really like to know the effect on drag.
I have 996.505.986.00 on my factory XAA car. The front bumper came with the pre drilled holes you show above. I bought it years ago for approx. 140 bucks. It is now 500-600 bucks, which is crazy. I have asked Demon Speed to make them, but they haven't yet. I could run a 996.2 splitter, but they are wider and require drilling more holes.
Spoiler Lip 996.1 GT3 MK1 1999-01 - Also Fits Aero Kit Bumpers (fvd.net)
Here it is on my car, but its black, so hard to see. It has some nicks and things from hitting stuff as its pretty low to the ground.
Easier to see on these cars.
The cup front splitter/spoiler was flexible from the factory and was a little larger. Don't know if they still make it. You can give demon a call and ask them questions on all of them. You have many options.
Here you go. A couple of pictures of the Demon GT3 front spoiler. It's thin and light. It will break if you crunch it. Designed to replace quickly and easily. It is already drilled. All you have to do is drill the bottom of your bumper and attach. I haven't put it on yet, but eventually will in the next month or two. What I like is that it's only $200 versus a new bumper and paint for ~$2k for the aero 2 bumper. If I don't like it, I'll take it off.
Sorry to resurrect, but it seems like a good place to tack this question:
What paint to use on a new lower lip?
I just bought this from suncoast. Nothing was painted, as expected. The bumper is being painted now but I didn't think about the lip not being painted and didn't take it in. Some primer and flat black? Chip Guard or Plasti-dip? Or will I damage it so fast that it doesn't matter?
Yeah, I have a Demonspeed GT3 front splitter and I would keep it black. Easier to touch up. I also have bought a "rubber" GT3 front splitter that is flexible from a local PCA member. Havent picked it up yet because my SUV is in the shop, but will pick it up soon and will report back.
I ordered with the same limit. But I wasn't in a rush for it and months would have been fine. It was just less than 4 weeks from order to delivery. Please have them define what 'new' is and request pictures of it before it goes in the box. Mine had clearly been mounted on a car. Maybe they do this to assure fit. it also had small indentations, molded, where the license plate bracket holes would go, which is not in their picture. Neither was a big deal, just unexpected.
