Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The door wouldn't stay closed so I used a twist tie
Leading evidence: 'Use twist tie' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace with an led bullet like version later' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I plan to replace with an LED bullet like version later.

That way you run the risk of corrosion on the shock absorbers' piston rods, that will then damage the seals and render the shock absorbers useless after some time due to leaking oil.

It's been awhile since I used a Battery Tender, so I don't recall if you can swap out the clips with a different connector as easily as the CTEK.

i pulled the frunk light out of the socket as it got very hot with the frunk open and was using electricity.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Im setting up my baby for winter storage and wondering if its okay to leave the hood open indefinitely? The lights in the trunk and boot are on but wondering if theyll eventually turn off or if it matters?
Frunk must remain open because alligator clips on battery stick up and would get squished by the hood. Will the light stay on forever? Does it matter?

Said battery tender
One of the butt for good measure
You do not want to leave your trunk open. All kinds of small rodents can find a home in you wiring harnesses. I would suggest closing it, and putting a well fitting cover on it.
You can buy an adapter that connects to the cigarette lighter socket. That socket has continuous power even with ignition off in my 996.1. Thats where I plug in my charger.
It's been awhile since I used a Battery Tender, so I don't recall if you can swap out the clips with a different connector as easily as the CTEK. I attached this to the clamp bolts in my battery box. The lead to the charger exits behind the hood while everything is closed.
On the topic of winter storage I'm mulling the addition of Sta-bil since she likely won't be out until late February. Project Farm on YT did a five year test to find Sta-Bil came out on top.
I also have jack stands that I'm going to use to avoid the development of the dreaded tire flat spot. Probably overkill, but it's simple enough to do.
i pulled the frunk light out of the socket as it got very hot with the frunk open and was using electricity. I plan to replace with an LED bullet like version later. I put a towel around the extension cord as it lays over my hood and have had no problems
Cigarette lighter adapter is best. I have also routed the wires up through the windshield cowl as shown in post #5. Another option is to utilize the positive battery pole located in the rear engine compartment and clip the ground to anything attached to the chassis. The wires for the battery tender are small enough for you to close the rear lid. Here's a photo. Not my car, but it gives you the idea.
Sincere questions: Why do people some store their cars for winter? Why not continue driving it? Why not drive it down south if you are going there? Don't people know that letting your car sit for months without driving it is about the worst thing you can do for it?
Three reasons:
They salt roads where I live. My car came from the desert of SoCal and it is stunning to see a 25 year old car without corrosion. I'm keeping it that way.
There isn't enough ground clearance to deal with snow/ice chunk levels I experience. The front bumper would not survive one winter without being broken by ice.
This is 4x4 truck/SUV country and being small and low isn't a winning formula if things unravel. Every winter locals go "off road exploring" on my road, which is a quick trip off an embankment. This requires tow service extraction to pull the vehicle virtually straight up. The Sheriff issues them two tickets, one for being stupid and the other for speed in excess of conditions.
I have spent my whole adult life in the mountains and I love four seasons. I listen to people bitch about snow and wonder why in the hell do they would live here?
If the frunk hood is on the latch, I don't believe the light remains on. And, correct me if I am wrong (I don't know), but even if the frunk hood is fully open, doesn't the frunk light time out at some point ??
I don't use battery tenders and I store my cars from now until it rains several times in the spring to clean up the roads. I leave the frunk open, but on the latch, and have yet to have a dead battery.
That way you run the risk of corrosion on the shock absorbers' piston rods, that will then damage the seals and render the shock absorbers useless after some time due to leaking oil.
Risk is varying depending temperature, relative humidity and storage time but not worth it to prevent flat spotted tyres, IMO.
The rubber bushes in the suspension won't like sitting twisted that long either.
I put 50psi in all 4 tyres and call it good. Any mild flat spotting disappears during the first 20 mile drive in spring at correct tyre pressures.
Foam pads with semi-circular cutouts could reduce flatspotting further.
