Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all I recently took my passenger airbag out in order to try and source a rattle in the dash. I disconnected the battery today this, and upon reconnecting the airbag and battery, the car now has a rough idle. I did not follow the relearn procedure. I drove it for a couple hundred kilometres and then it threw a CEL. I did a relearn, which improved the idle quite a bit, but when I put my scanner on it gives me a P0130 and a P0150 fault code (pre-cat O2 sensor circuits). My car came with no cats from factory and I'm not sure if that is at all relevant. I checked fuse C2 and relay on DME 2 and they test fine. Does anyone have any clues on where to go from here?

Perhaps a common ground got disturbed during the work. Anywhere near where you worked i would see if any common ground points got jostled.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Enzo, I think that's a good suggestion but I can't think of any Earth points that I would have disturbed. I did get back and check my negative battery post last night but that all seems sound. Do you know of any common earth points that are near the passenger airbag (I have a RHD car)?

Nah hang on scratch that. Im looking at the wiring diagrams and both the pre-cat sensors ground directly to the exhaust. The 02 sensors would ground to the exhaust to the engine block to the main ground strap to the chassis. So regardless my thinking above makes no sense. Need to think more or wait for someone with more thoughts.

POST 5Original post

Ok a little more reading. There is a separate ground that goes to a ground called VS3 which sits behind the dash by the airbag . It is said in a RHD car the ground is located in the passengers side footwell, below the airbag frame toward the center tunnel. When you had the airbag out do you remember a loom running in that direction?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Enzo, I was reading the Porsche manual this morning plus the Bentley manual plus the internet and I had come to a similar conclusion to you. In the Bentley manual it is listed as ground 3.1,, and it was here that I was going to search tonight. It's quite possible that, when trying to get the side vent air pipe in, I damaged the Earth. I really appreciate your help.

Are you looking at "GP3" the grounds labeled GP are chassis ground points. Different. But yep I see that VS3 was also named G3. Thats what we are looking for i think.
