Ive been contemplating the 18 Fuchfelge on my car, but with the silver spokes...I do really love the BBS sport classic IIs though (even though theyre a pita to keep clean)

I have been looking for an extra set of wheels for my 2000 996. I am looking for nice 18", but keep getting frustrated when I find really nice ones, only to discover that they only come in 19".
So, any other RListers' who buckled the trend and are currently sporting a killer set of 18" wheels?
Let the talk begin, let the pics do the talking!
Buying rims for C2 is probably the most frustrating thing
For 19" rim there just isn't the right tire (if u want to stay with same overall diameter). Pirelli used to make one in 305 size for 19" rims but offcourse now that i need it, they discontinued it. When you find the rim you like and the width that matches the stock or is wider a little, the offsets are wrong! Because they are alllll for wide body cars. The three piece knock offs usually are narrower than stock rims which i dont know why you would go with aftermarket. If anything you want wider! Having said all that i found something on tirerack that i like. The
Superleggera III's
. Not cheap, but still cheaper than most high end rims. On the other hand if you have 6 grand to blow, you won't go through any troubles at all. They will even do custom offsets for you. Good luck!
I'm looking forward to the pics also; I'm not fond of the polished wheels on the 40-year car and I am torn between narrow-body GT3 wheels or the standard Carrera wheels. Either way I am planning powder coating them in an anthracite or dark gray color.
Which either you decide upon. Go for something easy to clean. Not like mine Sport Classic 2. 18inch. They are a great looking wheel but a PITA to clean.

It's rare that I see an aftermarket wheel that I like better than the 2002-2004 Carrera II five spokes, or their close cousin, the five spoke 997 Carrera III's (shown). Unless I was looking for a high strength, very light wheel for track use...
Carrera III wheels in 18" have the slightly more muscular spokes than the carrera II
They're also very light weight but remember you need 5 or 7mm spacers up front to bring wheel to factory offset dimensions but worth every penny
18" Carrera 2 wheels are my favorite by far. Here's my old 2001, which I still miss. A close second for me are the 997 Carrera 3 and the 996 Sport Techno twists.

Plenty if options for 18" depending on your budget. Figure out if you want to reduce weight or just for looks.

Best looking wheels for the car, in my opinion. They call for ceramic brake pads to keep from getting dirty too quickly, however (the pads do make a huge difference).
Embarrassing but I don't know what model wheels I have. Just got the car and have been too busy to research just yet. They sort of look like turbo twist but don't have the 'twist'. They are 18" shod with PS2 tires. Ideas?
^ That's what I want, but in silver. My car would then be the negative of yours (black car, silver wheels). I guess sort of the negative of my negative avatar pic (OK, now I'm confused)
porrsha - great pic of your car. Looks fantastic with the black wheels. Speed yellow & guards red cars both can really pop with just a few of the right mods.
My Avatar shows the "new" VE Innsbrucks which I like as the car now has an updated look. I have a set of genuine HRE 3 pieice wheels, black centers with polished lips. I am about to send them to a local place to have them polished and balanced so I can get rid of them. They will be offered with Sumi HTRZIII tires, if your interested......(not trying to hijack to the thread).
My winter tires are on 18x8 & 18x10" twists from a 993 car. I like the look a lot more than my 996 twists, you can see the openings are larger, and point between the lugs instead of at them. My preference would be for the OZ wheels like Philooo has except they are not available in silver or polished.
Damn, cannot figure out how to attach my photo!
Somehow, the Sport Classic wheels seem to give the car a significantly different appearance than the others, whether traditional five spoke, twists, silver, black, and so forth. Perhaps it more draws the eye away from the rounded shape versus other sports cars?
Those five spoke Carrera II and III do look nice. Simple, light looking... But regardless of the cleaning pain, I like the "mesh" type classic. And I know about cleaning those! Back at college I had a similar set on my Jetta GLI.
Any body with experience on the Avan Garde Wheels? I found the following, and they look very nice. They do have also a one piece set I liked better, but of course it is not avail at 18"...
http://avantgardewheels.com/f110.php
Porsche actually made these available with Turbo / C4S offsets. A little hard to find but every now and then they pop up for sale. They even made them with the GT2 Offsets and widths that are uber hard to find in which I'm still in the hunt for a set.
no shortage of great looking cars...
an informal tally shows that the Carrera II are definite crowd pleasers, and have to agree in that with their elegant and minimal design, they really show well on the 996.
regardless, I am a SUCKER for "BBS Mesh" type wheels. no matter how difficult to clean.
from the responses I got to know about Champion wheels, and if I had $3K laying around, those would be my choice. Fiske and BBS very close 2nd.
Here are some pics showing the wheels

http://www.wheelenhancement.com/whee..._268_Black.jpg
now back to reality...
I'm very lucky to have BBS RS-GTs and a set of Champion RG-5's. You don't necessarily have to have $3k saved up. Just keep an eye out on used ones if you are ok with saving 40-50% off new.
Hi all from a new user
Anyone tried Fuchs wheels on 996? Only found this small picture which is not telling much
http://www.fuchsfelge.de/fileadmin/u...6er_18Zoll.jpg
Not sure if they fit or not... And personally would like to go down to 17" since better ride.
Yikes! Those 40AE OEM wheels cost a fortune (I know - I replaced my originals with a set of factory new ones
). From my time hunting for a set of good 40AE used wheels I'll bet that there still are folks out there who'd love to have them. Why not sell them and just powder coat a set of regular Carrera II wheels? You'd probably make a few bucks in the process.
I'm with you. I think that the 40AE wheels are absolutely stunning, especially on our 40AE cars.
https://rennlist.com/forums/attachme...g-img_2264.jpg
This photo has made my mind up about wheels. I was looking at a set of OZ's for the weight savings, but these just look so right on the car.

I have the carrera 2 wheels but I recently got a set of Cup iv wheels as winters and think they look good .
Tire rack sells them , a good value for money wheel, especially when you do a wheel and tire package
Just picked up the 2003 C4S a week ago and tried these BBS's on.
Was hoping I might find a picture of a 996 with the Sport Design wheels such as what I put onto my Cayman S a couple of years ago.
Here is my AeroKit C2 with 997 rims i'd prefer to have the original rims but these dont look too bad. I dont have the spacers yet but I need to get some!
Just for the record. Nothing in this pic is photoshopped except "On the road again." The wheels are not chromed. The pic was taken with my cell phone. I had just gotten the car off the jack stands after doing some maintenance and mounting new wheels and tires. The rims are from Wheel Dynamics RS-808 hyper silver.
Nice to see black wheels. Not to many on this post but I think they give a nice mean look mostly on a black 996. Three of my friends don't like them but my wife does. I will have to get some soon to get it out of my system
I have been looking to find a set of these 18" Sport Design (replica) wheels such as I put on my Cayman S a couple of years ago. They'd probably also look good on my 996 C4S.
Anyone know where there might be a set sitting around (and for sale)?
Thanks. I used them to replace the fugly OEM Lobster Claws, which I sold to someone who thought they looked better on his 996 than his Turbo Twists. How do they say it: "Good taste is in the mouth of the beholder!"
They may take a few minutes extra time to clean, but I really like the sports classics. I had the turbo twists, changed them for the sports design, and finally, got a set of the Sport Classic II.
Note, the 1st SCII photo is half clean, the other fully cleaned.

I like the look of the RS808 in Hyper Silver, and think they might look really cool on my silver 996, but I need 18" wheels to avoid the hassle of trying to find tires with the same outside diameter as OEM.
Do you have pics of the 18" RS808 in Hyper silver on a silver car?
Here you go sir!!! At the moment we are completely out of stock on the Hyper Silver, Currently only Satin Black is in-stock. We are working on building a 18x11 rear option that many have asked us to build. . . .

They look nice, but Tire Rack doesn't have tires for 19" wheels on a 996.
Based on discussions, I think I want to stay with 18".

sick bash hat, you even posted an MK1 aero actually being used with clean 19s AND a smiling lady in the passenger seat. Very much winning.
@WheelDynamics - Wow, those powder coatings look nice. Staying with the OEM BBS Carrera IIs and a polished lip/glossy graphite spoke setup *may* be the final destination.
the competition is too pricey-->
You're lucky! I was searching for equivalent tires for a Turbo.
Unfortunately, the Turbo has wider tires in the rear. Stock is 295/30-18, so I'd want to go to a wider tread, if anything. Tire Rack chat support couldn't help set me up with a size that was an exact match diameter-wise. If you know of a tire that would fit and is the same O.D. then that would be awesome!
Seriously, no more pics of the stock carrera II, carrera III, turbo twist, etc wheels. This thread has plenty of those pics.
Lets see something DIFFERENT for a change; like this car (pure sex)

Nice set-up, I have a set of 11" and 8" (wide body application) if anyone out there is listening...
Also I have one spare rear for a COFFEE TABLE or WALL CLOCK use, it's out of round but we refinished it back to original color for display.
First post. New 2004 996 Turbo x50 cab. Just bought. Could anyone recognize the manufacture of these wheels. I want to replace them with factory wheels. Any suggestions appreciated.
Hope these pics are attached.
No guarantees on the tires but the wheels are 18x8.5 and 18x10.5 (removed from a 996 narrow body) but can't confirm the off-sets yet.
$2,500 on the set you can have it your way, meaning that we will refinish the wheels to your choice in common finishes. TechArt center caps still on them.
Anyone interested just let us know.....
Thanks,
Customer of ours went with a very similar design but in a custom brush-tinted version in 19".... It came out very nice....

Cool, except I don't want 19" wheels. I hit a hard wall trying to find tires to fit on the 996 Turbo. Every tire available on 19" wheels does not match OEM outside diameter for tires on 18" wheels. From what I've read here and on 6SO, that can cause issues with the 4-wheel drive system, not to mention your speedo will be off, and I also have a clearance issue with my Bilstein PSS9 lowered car.
That's why I'm subscribed to a thread about 18" wheels...
This is an example of the closest you can get it dialed in to factory specs with the tire sizes being available at this time.

I had my original Sport Design's repaired (pothole and some curb damage). While we were at it, I had the spokes painted gold and the lip polished back to matte. I think they came out great. (Lighting makes them look a little yellower than they actually are).
You sir, have the best looking wheel here. Without question. Ask me how I know...
And yes, they sorta suck to keep clean. But they sure are purdy for the 5 minutes they stay clean.
DWhitlow - Is that Seal Grey? how are the polished lips holding up? Did you clearcoat them....or some kind of wax/sealer? They came out VERY nice!
Have a set of Sport Design's that I'm going to have the centers powdercoated and trying to decide what to do with the lips...clear or wax/seal (and maintain).
My favorite wheel design that Porsche makes is the 997 Turbo wheel. These are 19 inch on my 996, but you can find them in 18 inch. I wish I had gotten the 18's for every day smoother ride.
HRE 547's are very cool. I have a 19" set done in black that I'll be hopefully selling come early summer. Just couldn't do the black on black look so they gotta go. Great looking wheels though!
Hey Sub,
Sorry I didn't see your question earlier. The lips were clear-coated at same time wheels were painted. Hoping that holds up. I'm pretty good at not curbing my wheels, but potholes are another matter. As for color, yes, it's Seal Grey. I think the darker grey looks good with gold wheels.
-Don
Good question, hard to tell from the photos, but I agree it's a good looking color. Don't have much info on the car though, just the photos. Anyone here know the owner who can verify that?

i'd be willing to bet it's a wrap. you can tell the rear wing and engine lid is shiny, so if you were to paint the car matte i can't imagine why you wouldn't do that part as well.
Ive been contemplating the 18 Fuchfelge on my car, but with the silver spokes...I do really love the BBS sport classic IIs though (even though theyre a pita to keep clean)
Who refinished your wheels? I have a set of these wheels that originally had chrome centers, the previous owner of the car plastic dipped the center in black. I think the look OK, but not great and the rim is stained. I would like them refinished.
Imo, gt3 8.5 and 11's on NB. That said, anybody have a set they want to sell? I have a set of Carrera II 5 spoke 18 X 8/10 and some 15 X 7/8 Fuchs for trade....
OEM = GT3 18" or MY02's are the best of 18's on a 996 hands down.
Aftermarket those HRE P40's are pretty sick.
Any aftermarket wheel with a lip makes 18's look tiny.
Hello everybody,
I am in the search for a spare kit of 18"s for my C4S (I am running now on 19"s Champions).
The ones that I like more are the 18" Twist Turbo look originals for the C4S and the Thechno's optionals. I see that some of you have them as spare. If you are interested in selling some of them, just let me know.
Thanks!
Hello All,
Does anyone know the correct offset for 2004 Porsche 996 C4S with O.Z. Alleggerita HLT? I would like 18 x 8.5 in the front and 18 x 11 in the rear. Would prefer to stay away from spacers. What would my offsets be? Looking for a set for quite a while now.
Thank you.
give wheel enhancement a call. I just spoke to a Dave Martin a couple days ago. He mentioned a used set of Thechno's they had. Nice wheels, but I'm holding out for set of GT3's.
Here is a good guide to Porsche specifications. Pull up your year/model and look at the technical specifications. The year/model technical specifications list the wheel offsets.

I have a few to add.. MY02 Carrera IIs
Second set is 18" Enkei hollow spoke RC5 Carrera, and finally the last set is the GT3 NB.
The MY02 and the Enkei are both for sale and are up in the classifieds. Shown on my 99C2
Thanks for the suggestion. I will do that. I am living now in the US, but I plan to take my car back with me to Europe, that's why I am trying to get a set of OEM wheels with me for the winter there... and also because I am quite susceptible about the problems that the 19" wheels can give me in the technical inspection.
Fikse FM10s!
ive always loved these wheels, was lucky to buy a car with them on but they could use a refinish.
Debating on keeping and refinishing or selling for some Sport Design wheels
Edit: For some reason pics wont load from my phone or from my PC...
2000 C4 I just got. Anyone know what wheels these are? No brand markings I can see on them. Need to get some coilovers soon to drop it about 1.5 inches when I refresh the suspension.
I like the actual wheel on those 19", but feel the tires for a 19" rim look too low profile for this year car. Just my $.02. Plus the rear deep dish is a little much as well. Both rims are really nice though, actually.
I love the BBS Sport II rims that came with my car. I DO NOT LOVE cleaning them! But it's much easier now that I had them ceramic coated.
Great choice on the GT3 wheels car looks great with them. IMO they are the best you can get for the 996. Now just ditch those headlight covers! :-p (IMO)
Did you find the 5mm moved the wheel out far enough?
I've also lowered 25mm with H&R blue and Bilstein B8 Sport shocks.
Big improvement in handling without compromising ride too much.
And I like the way the wheel fills the arches and is flush with the bodywork.
Thanks
I try different cleaners throughout the summer.
Nothing really seems to work as advertized without elbow grease.
I have three different tools to scrub the different areas, PIA
If you can find a product called Dragons Breath, it's amazing. Literally dissolves off brake dust, and makes wheel cleaning a breeze. If the wheels are ceramic coated even easier!
My scepticism of such products vanished with my first use.
Here is my car with Cargraphic wheels...I have not had them on the car for 5 years now...just sitting in my garage but here is an old picture...looks pretty good for sure.
When I was looking for aftermarket wheels, this design just looked really good on a 996 with Aero Skirts.
The 9" in the front and the 11" in the rear fit perfect with no spacers.
I just couldn't justify the price per wheel, then this set came for sale only a couple hundred miles away.
BTW, your car looks outstanding
I can't check since I am out of town but if I recall these are the following:
Front: 8.5x18 ET40
Rear: 10x18 ET47.5
No spacers
I will need to confirm though when back in town.
I currently run with MK2 GT3 wheels.
We must have different wheels, here are mine

I think they stick out the same amount....your offsets are adjusting for the wider wheels in both the front and back. Your front is 12.7mm wider so adjusting or sticks out 6.35 mm more because of width over 8.5. That is why I have 7mm less offset... Same argument in the back...your width is 25.4 mm more so take half at 12.7 which means that is within 3mm of my outer surface so it makes sense for how car graphic sized these.
vintage Gemballa Speedline Corse 2 piece. 18x8.5 et46 and 18x10 et40
Perfect fit, no spacers.. don't mind the front bumper chips.. her nickname right now is the "road warrior" and she eats up the miles.
That offset calculating looks right to, it makes sense.
Did you purchase new, curious on cost?
For the other people on this thread, when you look to purchase wheels for a 996, are you looking new or used.
Some of the prices of new wheels for our cars push $6000+
Thats a lot rubles for 996 wheels.
Here's a couple of pics I took today just before a Porsche Club group road trip.
To recap: factory 18inch 5 spoke C2 wheels. 17mm spacers all around, H&R blue lowering springs (25mm),Bikstein B8 Sport shocks.
Here's my early 99 C2 on several wheels. no spacers on these, straight wheels to hubs. Lowered with H&R Sports (blue) and KONI adjustable shocks. Perfect ride and height for daily duty
The gloss black inside and out powdercoated Carrera IIs are off the car and FS if anyone is interested.
Lowpue I love that yellow beast of yours. Even better knowing whats under the lid.
Audidude the Carrera IIs are looking good spaced out, I always wanted to pick up some spacers on mine. All my pics are without spacers on the GT3 and BBS Carrera IIs. (except the one with my G35 coupe)
85 eurocarrera your silver aero is beautiful on the GT3s.
I run larger than oem tire sizes because I prefer a little more tire. OEM GT3 size fronts at 245/40/18 and currently 275/40/18 on the rear. The black wheel pics are on 265/35/18 OEM rear size. I love the ride and she is very responsive, but not punishing on long drives..as you can see there have been a few in the last year and a half. #GetOutAndDrive

Sorry, just to confirm, you have the 265 width on the rear with the Carrera IIs? And going to 275 width works with no rubbing? I have the Carrera IIs and we are trying to find the right rear tire size for our '99 C4.
Best value is Bilstein B8s, which is what I have, which are a factory spec match for the short H&Rs AFAIK. If going coilovers, Ohlins hard to beat. Personally I'd only go coilovers if doing lots of track work at different tracks.
I had a shop refinish them. They were all silver originally, including the centre caps and that shop painted them all grey. They masked off the emblem. Presumably they removed the centre caps and painted them seperately.
It was quite a few years ago, they're getting a little tatty now.
I am sorry to bring this back to the Carrera II rims, but I just can't get a definitive answer.
Putting on Carrera II rims on a 996.1 NB Carrera 4, I can go to 285 without rolling the fenders? I am being told Carrera 4 is different from the 2 and I have to keep the 225 in the front and 265 in the back for proper balance of understeer and for the all wheel drive system.
This bogus, or I can go 285 in the back?
Jim, noticed this hasn't been addressed for you. 285 30 should be no problem, should not have to roll the lips. 245 / 35 front, almost perfect match for the all-wheel drive. This is also a very successful configuration for the track crew.

Not only are these good-looking configurations but I also feel they're useful for comparing different width and offsets, on both wheels and tires.. Thanks. Does the turbo front fitment match the narrow-body front fitment?
Appreciate it. In our opinion, the SM-10 design really looks at home on the 996 & 997 chassis.
Widebody and narrowbody 911 front wheel fitments are the same. Drivers can choose between an 8.5" ET42 or 9" ET46 front wheels depending on how they plan to use their car, desired front tire size, whether or not they will have negative camber dialed in, and which rear wheel and tire width they plan to run.
For the rear wheels, we have widebody and narrowbody specific offsets available to ensure proper fitment. Widebody cars will use our 11" ET36 or 12" ET45, while narrowbody cars will use our 18x11" ET60 or 18x12" ET65.

Much appreciated. We're loving them on the 996 chassis as well.
My goodness, this is clean. Do you mind confirming your wheel and tire specs? I'm assuming 18x8.5" ET42 with 235/40-18 tires up front and 18x11" ET60 with 295/30-18 rear tires, is that correct?
Thank you for sharing.
- Ryan
Correct, wheels are Apex Race Silver 18x
8.5" 42 offset and 18x11" 60 offset. Love the rims! And that's my restored M5, front and rear euro conversion. Even have a M88 engine/drivetrain as a spare. The dream is to drop that in one day.
We recommend stock 996.2 GT3 sizes for these wheel widths as they fit very nicely - 235/40-18 F. & 295/30-18 R. This wheel & tire fitment is typically a direct bolt-on fitment, however, as always factors like ride height and tire model (not all are created the same) come into play and in some cases may result in needing a touch of additional camber or fender roll in the rear.
With that said, some narrowbody Carrera owners will go with slimmer stock 996.2 Carrera sizes - 225/40-18 F. & 285/30-18 R. These work, but they can look a touch stretched depending on the tire model.
- Ryan
Everything is pretty much factory delivered. US M030 suspension. So not lowered at all.
Wheels are 18x8.5 ET42 front, 18x11 ET60 rear.
Tires are MIchelin Pilot Sport PS2 235/40-18 front, 295/30-18 rear
-Tom
Fixed the rattling headliner. Much better listening to music and going over bumps and rough roads. It doesn't thwap when the subwoofer plays deep base notes anymore. Also checked the sunroof drain hoses to see if they are blocked. My headliner gets wet during car washes. Drain hoses look good, so I'm going to try to replace the sunroof seal. It's definitely not sealed well, because there is quite a gap between the seal and the sunroof opening. Pretty sure it's partly the source of my wind noises at high speed.

This one is not mine but I love the look of Momo Heritage wheels. I almost pulled the trigger but was not sure if the bronze would go with Seal Gray. 1st world problems.
New Wheels and tires.
I decided to try something a little different with tire size as I wanted a bit more side wall for the rears.
After much deliberation and working out the correct ratios and sizes relative front to back I decided on the following.
MPSS R. 295/35/18
MPSS F. 245/40/18
According to the numbers the front to rear is only a difference of 1.5%.
Revs per mile is a difference of 13 so I think i'm within the window for proper sizes.
The overall diameter is larger in the back and I believe from most of what I've seen the fronts should be larger.
First test drive.....drove great with no warnings/codes for ABS or PSM.
Not rubbing and no spacers thanks to the perfect fitment of APEX RACING either.
May try and go 5mm lower on the Ohlins R&T after more testing.

I like the taller sidewall on the 4S, I may try that on mine. I have the front drive removed, so diameter differences between front/rear is not a concern. I really like the way the extra meat fills the fender well. This may actually fix the German speedometer discrepancy.
I have the 4S in 285/35/18 and think the taller sidewall works well for the 2WD application and looks right. My car is lowered and corner balanced on hlins and the setup as a whole works really well.
and keeping in line with the thread, I love my factory 18s and would not put out the money for something that would move the needle enough to get me to change, i would like some TE37’s but not enough to drop the money on them.
So I got the factory wheels repaired to new condition and had them powder coated.
Thanks brother, looks and feels how I wanted it to when I knew the car had more to offer with some tweaking. Now I'll drive it like it is for the nice weather months and decide what other tweaking is needed to make it more better when not so nice weather comes back around.
Wow you got big tires to work! Our C2 we went up 10mm to
235/40/18 front
and
295/30/18 rear
so from stock rear tires were .3" smaller diameter and 1.2% difference, to rear .4" smaller and 1.6%. No codes and front barely touches inner fender liner at full lock, in future will try to heat form liner and/or spacers.
Smaller tires in back don't look right, next will get
285/35/18 rear
which will make a dramatic change to .5" larger than front and 2% rolling difference. We'll see if any codes or rubbing and after 20 years stance should finally look right.
I believe going to larger tire diameter will decrease the factory speedometer error, don't know if the speed is picked up from front or rear wheels.
I agree the small side wall and overall diameter just did not look right.
I know its not factory but was willing to try the new set up anyway; the ratios were close so what the hell....very happy I went this direction.
I like the look of the taller tires. I got some wheels and tires for my wife's Audi and picked a size too small, wish there was a bit more meat on them.
Another reason to be thankful during 'rona virus times....you can park in the middle of the road for a photo shoot.
Great looking car. Makes me want to drive my own C4S...only a couple more months!
I agree w/others and think that the MY02 BBS Carerra wheels look best on a 996.
At least that's the way I feel about the ones that I recently purchased via Rennlist. Totally transformed the looks and improved handling of my 2000 C4 Cab compared w/the overweight aftermarket 19 inchers that came w/the car.
Ok, my apologies if I have posted these before, but very happy with the current set-up, same OEM Carrera wheels in Dodge SRT gray powder coat, H&R springs, Bilstein B6 shocks. 15mm Fr spacers, 8mm rear.
Almost identical stance to mine - the 996 is transformed by bringing the rims out to line up with the bodywork, and dropping it 20-25mm. Looks very hunkered down on the move, and handles better.
No need to change from OEM wheels, but no reason not to if you find rims you prefer.
Been looking for a set of GT3 wheels in WB offsets. I do like the look:
GT3 WB offsets
There is a set for sale in the classifieds.
LOL
short version;
Bought car while on vacation.
Stereotypical salesman, throwing out the term unicorn, blah blah blah describing car.
2003 Targa, X51, Aero Kit, full carbon interior, PSE.....
It turned out to be sort of a unicorn. My kid suggest I get plate saying so. So I did.
Not really liking it, might remove.
P.S.
Car was originally purchased at Brumos. Has the Hurly Haywood approved sticker on wind shield as well.
I like the five spoke factory wheels on my 03 too. May I ask where you had your's refinished and how much. Note to self, pay attention in drive throughs.... There was already 17 yrs of of scuffs and scratches. There are several good looking aftermarkets wheels I like in this thread, but I think I'll stick with what I have unless it's more to refinish than buy new. I have no idea what the costs are new or refinishing.
Typically to have the wheels refinished in a single color its about $400-500 for all four wheels to be stripped, prepped and powder coated. Thats what we charge any way.
How bad can the damage be before you say this is too bad to save, I'm remembering the guy who did the tire mounting, saying one of the rims was out of round. Probably should toss that one in favor of good used or new. Mine aren't too bad, just visible curb rash, aside from the one that's out of round.
I had them done by The Wheel Fix in Waltham, MA...Little bit of a hike for you but I am very happy with the work so maybe it would be worth it depending on options in Southern NH, Northern MA area. Here's his contact:

My wheels were done with a 2 stage powder coat, a gloss with a matte secondary coat. The 2 stage was 175/wheel, for a single stage it would have been $150... I think that may change depending on the prep/repair required, bit it's what I paid.
That seems reasonable. I have customers in Mass and I travel as far as the Cape for work so not much is out of reach especially if the quality is good and the price reasonable. May be a good winter project. Now I need to remember which rim is messed up. Doesn't ride funny. Oh well, I'll figure that out later.
What can be fixed obviously depends how bad the wheel is. If you're driving on it now my guess would be it can fixed. Curb rash is quick and easy to repair. Theyll have those wheels looking better than new.
The offset is actually of, so I have to compensate with spacers in front. The wheels actually hit the suspension without spacers. I will cut the fenders and mount som fender flares for next season (only a few weeks left of the season here in mid-Norway).
The camber settings are maxed out on the stock C2 arms.
I know the Apex’s have been shown before, but want to share my fitment. I am extremely pleased with the results and had compliments from several others (997, Caymans, etc.) at a track day over the weekend. Thanks Apex!
Thanks, these are hyuge (misspelled on purpose)! I have some interference (front wheel well liner and potential fr spring seat). I need to investigate more, but I drove about 8 hours over the weekend (including a full day at the track) and I am hooked!
Front (-2.5 Camber): 245 on 18x9 +46
Rear (-2.8 Camber): 315 on 18x12 +65
Probably my next move is to try a 2 or 3mm spacer on the front. Really need to get the car on jackstands and take a good look around. I tried a 5mm spacer on the front and it was too much (hooked my fr fender, and I had to re-roll it with a hammer handle).
Killer setup,
@Ratchet1025
! Great to hear you are enjoying them.
Correct, 245/40-18 front & 315/30-18 rear Nitto NT-01s.
We have 996

widebody
and
GT3
specific wheel & tire fitment guides here for anyone interested in learning more.
- Ryan
Yes I think that is good advice for suspension clearance. The wheel well liner soft touch is related to tire dia (and maybe caster) I think. I have heard about some mounting bracket adjustments maybe helping, I need to research it over the winter. It definitely mostly fits, that is what I was hoping for at this stage
Swapped out my LW's with a set of E88's. Still trying to get the fitment dialed - for now specs are:
Front - 18X9 +50 5MM Spacer 245/40/18 Toyo R888R
Rear - 18X11 +67 305/35/18 Toyo R888R
Once I have all the necessary maintenance and other things taken care of I’d love to get a set of these Work’s. I’ve seen the 5 spoke on a 996/997 but never this set. Could look great.

Currently have solid-spoke twists on my 02 C4 Cab (below). Contemplating replacing with the Turbo/C4S hollow-spoke twists.
Would the hollow ones be a direct replacement, or adapters/spacers/etc. would be required for a perfect fit?
Cheers. And thanks.
phjilbert996,
Thanks for your post. Do these wheels come in only one width/offset (staggered, of course) or are there variants? If the latter, what are the specs for yours?
BTW, those wheels look great on your car.
Thanks
Honestly dont know the answer to either question.
These are the stock hollow spokes that came on my 99.
I know that theyre:
7.5x18 front
10x18 rear
Just installed 18x8.5 et40 (235/40zr18) & 18x10 et63 (285/35zr18) on stock suspension with no rub.
15mm spacers ordered for rear and will lower it a bit at some point.

If this has already been asked, my apologies. Does anyone know the lightest forged track wheel(s) for the 996 PCD+Offset and the wider widths? I prefer monobloc to multi-piece. 99% track usage. Thank you!
My personal car: Porsche 996 C4S on TechArt Daytona's made by Speedline.
Size: 18"x8.5" || 18"x11"
Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport
Tire Size: 225/40/18 || 295/30/18

I would have preferred 18 turbo twists when I found this little lady a few weeks ago, but these work just fineunless someone wants to swap for the aforementioned! 😬
I run the OZ Wheels in a gunmetal gray lowered about 1.2” on my PSS10
Fronts 225/40/18
Rears 295/30/18
Big fan of the CCWs, Apex, Sport Desings and Mk2 GT3 wheels as well
Factory or aftermarket gt3 lower control arms, extra shims, adjustable toe links and adjustable upper dog bones. Im up to 3.4* for the track and coild probably go to 4*.
If that falls through let me know. I'm willing to sell these off mine as I have another set incoming. The chrome is peeling off two of the center caps but the rest of the wheel is true and in superb condition.
I was linked back to this thread by email notification today, although I've sold my 996 (C2 manual) over a year ago, trading into an Aston Martin Rapide S.
But have recently purchased another 911, because....911! - still have the Aston, which I love.
This time I've bought a 2006 997.1 Carrera 2 manual, and thereason for replying to this post is because it's got a ducktail rear spoiler that looks identical to this one - i can't find the source of mine - where is this one from?
the 996, and 997 really suit a ducktail, as evidenced by the 997 Sport Classic. And this car too, of course.
Obligatory wheel content; these are 19 inch Carrera Sport OEM wheels
you can fit thule 753 (I think) feet, the problem (if you care) is you get that tilted fitment as shown instead of the more specific fitment of the OEM kit
Funny, I was just thinking about revisiting this setlocal shop put my car up to GT3 height (I think this will help a ton). If that isnt enough, I also got a new set of fender liners to play Dremel time (thanks to JP for the instructions). Will update be the end of June!
Yeah, that's what i was thinking, so I guess I will replace them with the 408 in a week or so, and might also consider replacing the rear Carrara Wing with the original popup wing.
UPDATE: I sold the Sport Designs and picked up the turbo styles last month. So now my MY99 is exactly how I wanted it and I put about $1300 in my pocket.
I've always been a fan of the turbo twists since they are iconic and the 996 is the last to have them. Instantly recognizable as Porsche. Preferably with colored center caps.
Obviously wheels look much better when you have a set of coilovers installed and some tire shine! I miss my 996 Carrera 2 but I'm happy with my 996 turbo also with turbo twists.
The most important thing is that you like them. Sorry, I missed seeing your post that you'd changed them.
Styling choices are always very personal. They look great 😊👍

Lots of complimentary aftermarket options, but if were talking factory wheels, the correct answer is always Sport Designs. The fact that Porsche didn't make their Turbo-look/twists/et al, directional is a deal breaker.
Well, the wait was worth it. I am super happy with this new set of Apex Racing VS-5RS Forged Wheels. A big thank you to the Team at Apex for putting up with my questions and follow up! I am headed to the track this weekend to see how they work under pressure
. Apologies for the the dirty vehicle….
This is the exact setup I want to go with, tires and all! I am concerned with the fitment though, did you adjust your camber to 2 and roll the rear fenders? If not, any complications from spirited driving?
Dejeeper im in the process of buying more adjustable suspension bits to go with my newer Ohlins R/T
hence the gt3 sway bar I just bought from you lol 😂
You will love this set-up
Rear: Yes rolled rear fenders, camber -2.5
Front: Camber -2.7, I used 3mm spacers to clear the Ohlins spring seats (w/o spacer it did not touch, but was too close for me)
Ride Height: My super low days are behind me, now at GT3 height and no rubbing at all, I can yardstick measure the height if that helps
I now have 3 sets (and the associated storage issues), all 3 are dual purpose (to/from track & track). These APEX/Rt660, then an APEX/NT01 set-up, and the OG OZ/Michelin Sport Cup 2 (been running for 5 years). This is the comparo year and hopefully a clear favorite emerges.

Hi what specs does your car have (suspension, geometry etc) and what fitment did you get for front and rear in wheel and tyre?
Really like your look, have been eying these wheels myself for my European model TT.
Mine is stock, except the PSS10 suspension.
Got completely lost in all the different fitment options since lots of folks have pretty extreme fitments due to aftermarket suspensions, camberplates, heavier ARB's, rolled arches etc.
Don't want to tie the knot for my own car, based on a look which I can not achieve or with a fitment that will cause rub, wear on the 4x4 system or other negative side-effects.
Thanks!
I rove it 1000 miles to get it home. I finally finished new front Axles, CVs, coffin/tuner and other suspension parts. Bought 997 18s, restored them, they were pretty cheap. I look in mirror and see "my Indie". Learning as I go along, not really that hard to do.
YMMV
These wheels are Apex VS5-RS 18x9 et46 and 18x12 et46 IIRC. Tires are 245/40 and 305/35 which won't work with AWD. My car has 996 Cup coilovers, Tarett camber plates, GT2 adjustable control arms. Rear fenders are slightly rolled. I run -3.5 degrees front camber and -3.0 degrees rear camber. Ride height is set to about 996 Cup height, 80mm front and 110mm rear.
In short not a good street setup although I drive it on the street occasionally.
For the same look get the same wheels in 18x9 and 18x11 and run 235/40 and 315/35 tires. That should work and be frendlier to drive on the street.
Sport Design wheels are the best looking factory original wheels, just my opinion😀
I even like the modern art picture I took of one, photo titled Fractured Design

I saw these "Honey-Gold" wheels near Mogocha. Unfortunate, not on a 996, but classic wheels on classic car. Maybe that is faded Ice-Green metallic? They also feature Run-Flat technology. I couldn't tell if they were 18s or 19s or a staggered set. You be the judge.
YMMV
On your Biarritz White 996.1, I think they are too dark. One of the reasons I like the wheels is to show the brakes and calipers.. If lighter color/finish, the wheels would show your calipers and brakes better. I suppose you can say I am not a fan of dark or "darker" wheels. The only other wheels I would throw in trash or give away are the Lobster Fork Wheels -absolutely atrocious design.
It really doesn't matter. Your car, your likes or dislikes. I Do prefer your Biarritz White over my Dark Gary PTS. Any white is rare on a 996, let alone a 996 C4S. Cabrios are not for me, I think they alter 996 lines too much. Whatever, like and live with what you have. After all, after 20+ years there are not many left. I am certain that wherever you take you Cab you get unsolicited compliments. I get them on my C4S, even from nose-bleed high 4WD pickup truck drives, male And female.
YMMV
Some valid points for sure...
Like the Carrera IIIs wheels for the same reason you said above.
Just recently got them powder coated Anthracite. Have mixed feelings about them. But wanted to try it. Can always swap them out for one of my other sets. They do seem to bring the car into more of a modern more masculine rugged type look for the white C2 car imo.
Seems dark wheels are all the rage now. Not sure I like it that much. Kind of a stock color type guy myself.
I'm getting ready to put a set of 18's for a 996 on marketplace. OEM wheels. They have Continental Extreme contact 200 treadwear tires, used for one autocross. Wheels are OEM with 996 part # on them. I need to get them out of the covered stoage shed and wash them. I have not set a price as of this morning
I just bought a set of 18 Turbo Twists to replace my 19 TechArts.
I was really leaning towards a set of Apex VS-5RS. My local shop always has more than a dozen 911s in house and 80% of them are on Apex rims.
Bonus is a huge BF sale starting next week. Tried to post a link but its not letting me.
I love the black Fuchs, which make are those and where did you get them? Something looks off on the front though, like the offest, they stick out too much
Thanks. They are from FVD Brombacher. They are specifically made for the 996 NB. I think it may be the camera angle or the fact my front wheel is not dead straight.
Even with all of the available aftermarket options, I still find it's so difficult to beat the factory GT3 wheels on an aero kit car! Timeless combination!
Sorry, I guess I forgot to post these this summer. I was worried about the black on Apex Motorsport Gold, but have been pleasantly surprised thus far with the response. Let me know what you think!
