Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

First thing I did when I bought it was took it to my independent and had the oil and drain plug changed, checked the other fluids, etc.
Leading evidence: 'Check other fluids, etc' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Oddly enough, it was the only vehicle I had that I could haul the Xmas tree in.

I need to see about running the VIN in an attempt to get the scoop on how it was equipped when originally purchased.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thought I'd actually take a moment, say high from usually sunny San Diego, introduce myself and my 2000 Cabriolet.
Car has a few decent mods, and a couple of cheesy ones which I am rectifying, but overall a nice 48k specimen which is a solid driver. Certainly different than my beloved 81 SC Targa I parted with a couple of years back.
Tons of good information on the forum, and a number of insightful and helpful posts.
Cheers!
Sam
This one has the gray, but it's on the darker side.....black would have been awesome.
I found this one on eBay originally, and it didn't sell. I stayed in touch with the seller and got it for significantly less then the original price. He had some wheels and tires on there that were kind of meh...so I swapped those out first thing.
The color definitely reeled me in
They ran out of these at the auto parts store...so I got the economy size....
Oddly enough, it was the only vehicle I had that I could haul the Xmas tree in. Covered the seats with a tarp, and it was good to go - nary a needle in the car as it was fresh and well tied up.
You win!
like: color
dislike: spats
like: Xmas tree in pax seat! (extra points for that)
dislike: dark wheels
Locate and post up your option list on the sticker on inside of frunk. We will decode and laugh, and laugh, and laugh!!!
j/k
Welcome and congrats.
Hmm, I don't recall seeing that dark of a gray interior on a 996. Metropol blue interior possibly?
Cobalt blue over black on a 996 in the US is definitely a unicorn.
Looks great. I like the dark wheels.
Welcome and congrats!
I bet you're right. I'm about half color blind so it may very well be the Metropol. I need to see about running the VIN in an attempt to get the scoop on how it was equipped when originally purchased.
Ahem - unlatch frunk. Slide lift lever. Lift frunk lid. Look at big square white tag just below latch-pin mechanism on inside frunk lid. Take pic. Attach to this thread.

Have you had time to check all the fluid levels? I sure you're aware of what could happen it the 996 gets dangerously low on blinker fluid, right?
I thought blinker fluid issues were exclusive to BMW? Oh, wait....that's a SHORTAGE of proprietary blinker fluid..... wtf was I thinking....
First thing I did when I bought it was took it to my independent and had the oil and drain plug changed, checked the other fluids, etc.
