Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The seals on the tubes do fail and need to be replaced from time to time.

But if I just replace the shaft as they sell on pelican parts, what's to stop it from coming apart and getting stuck again?

It seems like I'd have to replace the whole thing.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

While changing my spark plugs one of the ignition coils heads came off, leaving the rubber shaft in the spark plug hole. I pulled it out with pliers and it seems to go back together OK. I went to look for a replacement and pelican sells just the rubber connector shaft, which makes it seem like they're supposed to come apart. Should I replace the one that came apart? Is there any trick to having the rubber shaft come out easily, like greasing the outside or applying adhesive to where it connects to the coil head?

Are you talking about a part of the coil pack or the spark plug tube?
https://www.renntech.org/forums/topi...ark-plug-tube/
That thread shows a pic of the tubes (Cefalu's post).
The seals on the tubes do fail and need to be replaced from time to time. If your seals are still good, however, you should be able to reinsert it if the tube itself is not damaged.
As far as the coil pack itself, when in doubt, replace them all.
I'm talking about the "spark plug connector" part of the coil pack itself, like this:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Inf...20&SVSVSI=996J
if they sell them separately then doesn't that mean they're meant to be taken apart and it isn't broken?
How old are the coilpacks?
They are part of the normal maintenance items. If they are older, I personally would replace them and that way you are less likely to have a problem with them.
