Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey everyone! I'm sure there are lots of threads on stuff like this already, but was hoping I might just get some quick focused responses. I have a 2002 996TT, with 55,000 miles, which I have owned and enjoyed for 8 years. The previous owner installed PES Stage 2 software, a race clutch, lightweight flywheel, exhaust, billet blow off valves, fabspeed exhaust, etc. I've always disliked how non-daily friendly the clutch is, and I think it's finally nearing end of life. That being said, I have a few other items that need servicing, which will require an engine drop. I thought it might not only be a good time to upgrade my clutch, maybe go to bigger turbos, new tune, etc. Looking for any suggestions and recommendations folks have keeping the following in mind: I drive the car <2500 miles per year, rarely on a track. I'd like it to still be daily driveable, and user friendly. I'd like to make more power than I make now. I'd like to not rob a bank to make this happen. So taking all that into account, what do folks recommend for turbo upgrades, clutch replacement, software, kits, etc. Any links provided would be appreciated of course. Thank you!

You might want to consider posting your question in the 996 Turbo forum. I have not upgraded my 996 Turbo but many Turbo owners have. On the Turbo Forum Kevin of UMW is quite knowledgeable about Turbo upgrades -- he sells upgrades -- and can advise you. The UMW link: www.ultimatemotorwerks.com

Concur with Macster. There are several 996tt guys that hang out here in the NA 996 forum, but your best bet for 996tt specific questions (like you've posed) is on the 996tt board. There is a lot of good info here for the stuff the 996tt shares with the NA 996, though, and generally this is a pretty welcoming group of guys. That being said, I would also agree with Macster in that you contact Kevin. He knows a lot about clutches as well as power upgrades for the 996tt. There are several different clutch setups for the 996tt because some guys track them A LOT, some guys have increased horsepower A LOT and some guys hate the stock hydraulic clutch pedal boost system both because of the lack of feel as well as it is prone to failure.
