Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Sway bar bushings were replaced a couple years ago, but I think everything else is original.

New Sumi's going on tomorrow, but I'll wait on an alignment until I replace the shocks.

Though nothing leaks I know I'm way past the time to replace my shocks, and probably some other things.

For stock ride quality and handling with a lower stance replace the struts with OEM replacements and add a set of lowering springs.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm sure this question has been discussed adnaseum (sp?), but I've searched a bit and can't find exactly what I'm looking for. If suitable threads come come to mind, please share the link.
I have a '02 C2 Coupe, 6sp, with 161,000 miles. Though nothing leaks I know I'm way past the time to replace my shocks, and probably some other things. Sway bar bushings were replaced a couple years ago, but I think everything else is original.
I don't track this car, so stock handling is fine. I'd like to lower it an inch all around, for purely esthetic reasons, but not if it's going to cost me a lot more, or produce a punishing ride. I like it firm, but not jarring.
I love this car, coming up on 5 years of ownership. Just retired and trying to keep it in excellent condition without breaking the bank. New Sumi's going on tomorrow, but I'll wait on an alignment until I replace the shocks.
Welcome any suggestions!
For stock ride quality and handling with a lower stance replace the struts with OEM replacements and add a set of lowering springs. This is also the lowest cost option.
You'll need an alignment but other then that, you'll be good to go.

Post #10 for my suspension replacement story. Very happy with my choices, sounds like this would work for you.
If you're going to use lowering springs, you should also use a shorter or "sport" shock/strut. If using Bilstein these would be B6HD, or B8(these are designed for sport springs). Koni also makes a sport set for the C2. The Standard Bilstein B4 is designed for the stock springs so the results may not be predictable.
You'll get 996 opinions on this and they're all valid - it depends on what you want from the car.
I've just a month ago gone from H&R springs with worn standard shocks to Euro M030. Did drop links and a few other bits at the same time. I'm very happy with the result. I loved the look of the car on the H&Rs but it was too low for the roads I drive it on - and particularly my parking garage at work. So the Euro M030 is a nice compromise, and it drives great.
