I'll double-check with them but I wouldn't rule out an inadvertent Id10t error on my point.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I recently purchased and installed a DCT T96 wheel. Once I hooked the battery back up, the horn started going off - which I figured I did something and pulled the fuse. Now the car is in the shop getting the brakes worked on and I had them look at the wheel. They're reporting that the back of the wheel is contacting the horn plate and that's why it's going off. I know the 996 horn can be touchy but has anyone had a similar experience with an aftermarket wheel, and if so, what were you able to do about it? Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

The metal retaining frame is what controls/activates the horn...It has rubber bushings that get worn and cause contact and unintentional horn sounding... Part number 99634788002 is what you need for the 3 spoke steering wheel....

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks - the shop originally mentioned that, but didn't mention it when they called me about the wheel/horn. I'll double-check with them but I wouldn't rule out an inadvertent Id10t error on my point. I have also contacted DCT and I think they'll will be talking directly to the shop.
